१८३. प्रश्न : उद्धार पल्य किसे कहते हैं ? उत्तर : व्यवहार पल्य की रोम राशि में से प्रत्येक राम-खण्डों के, असंख्यात करोड़ वर्षों के जिसने समय हों, उत्तने खण्ड करके, उनसे दूसरे पत्य को (पल्य प्रमाण गड्ढे को) भरकर पुनः एक-एक समय में एक-एक रोमखण्टु को निकालें। इस प्रकार जितने समय में वह दूसरा पत्य (गट्टा) खाली होता है, उतना काल उद्धार पल्य का काल है। इससे द्वीप-समुद्रों का प्रमाण जाना जाता है। १८४. प्रश्न : अद्धापल्य किसे कहते हैं ? उत्तर : उद्धार-पल्य की रोम-राशि में से प्रत्येक रोमखण्ड के असंख्यात् वर्षों के समय प्रमाण खण्ड करके तीसरे गड्ढे के (पल्य प्रमाण) भरने पर और पहले के समान एक-एक समय में एक-एक रोम-खण्ड को निकालने पर जितने समय में वह गड्ढ़ा खाली होता है, उतने काल को अद्धापल्य कहते हैं। इससे नारकी, मनुष्य
