कषाय का द्विस्वभावपना सिद्ध होने से सासादन गुणस्थान पृथक् सिद्ध होता है।

प्रश्न : मिश्र गुणस्थान किसे कहते हैं ?
उत्तर : जात्यन्तर सर्वघाती सम्यग्मिध्यात्व प्रकृति के उदय से केवल सम्यक्त्वरूप या मिथ्यात्वरूप परिणाम न होकर जहाँ मिश्ररूप परिणाम होते हैं, उसे मिश्र गुणस्थान कहते हैं।

जिस प्रकार मिले हुए दही और गुड़ का स्वाद न खट्टा और न मीठा है परन्तु खटमीठा है, उसी प्रकार एक ही काल में इस गुणस्थानवर्ती जीव के सर्वज्ञकथित तत्त्वश्रद्धान की अपेक्षा सम्यक्त्वरूप और सर्वज्ञाभास कथित अतत्त्व - श्रद्धान की अपेक्षा मिध्यात्वरूप परिणाम पाये जाते हैं !
प्रश्न: मिश्र गुणस्थानवर्ती जीव की क्या-क्या विशेषताएँ
हैं ?
उत्तर : मिश्र गुणस्थानवर्ती जीव सकलसंयम या देशसंयम को ग्रहण नहीं करता है। इस गुणस्थान में नवीन आयु का बंध नहीं होता है, मारणान्तिक समुदुधात नहीं होता है और मरण भी नहीं होता है ।
