और न प्रत्येक पल्योपम के बादर और सूक्ष्म भेद ही किये गये है। संक्षेप में पल्योएम का वर्णन इस प्रकार है--
पल्य के तीन प्रकार है --व्यवहारपल्य, उद्धारपल्य और अदापल्य । ये तीनों नाम सार्थक हैं और उद्धार व अद्धा पल्पों के व्यवहार का मूल होने के कारण पहले पत्य को व्यवहारपल्य कहते हैं। अर्थात् व्यवहारपल्य का इतना ही उपयोग है कि वह उद्धारपल्य और अडापल्य का आधार बनता है । इसके द्वारा कुछ मापा नहीं जाता है । ___नारम्य से सम्मान रो, दी. सोरहों की संख्या जानी जाती है, इसीलिये उसे उद्धारपत्य कहते है और असापल्य के द्वारा जीवों की आयु आदि जानी जातो है, इसीलिये उसे अदापल्प कहते हैं । इन तीनों पस्यों का प्रमाण निम्न प्रकार है--
प्रमाणांगुल से निष्पन्न एक योजन लम्बे, एक योजन चौड़े और एक योजन गहरे तीन गड़वे बनाओ। एक दिन से लेकर सात दिन तक के भेड के रोमों के अग्रभागों को काटकर उनके इतने छोटे-छोटे खण्ड करो कि फिर वे कंघी से न काटे जा सके। इस प्रकार के रोमखण्डों से पहले पल्य को खब ठसाठस भर देना चाहिए । उस पल्म को व्यवहारपल्य कहते हैं।
उस व्यवहारपल्य से सो-सो वर्ष के बाद एक-एक रोमखण्ड निकालतेनिकालते जितने काल में कह पल्म खाली हो, उसे व्यवहार पल्योपम कहते हैं । व्यवहारपस्य के एक-एक रोमखण्ड के कल्पना के द्वारा उत्तने खण्ड कगे जितने असंख्यात कोटि वर्ष के समय होते हैं और वे सब रोमन्त्रण्ड दूसरे पल्य मैं भर दी। उसे उदारपल्य कहते हैं ।
उस उद्धारपल्य में से प्रति समय एक खण्ड निकालते-निकालते जितने समय में वह पल्य खाली हो, उसे उद्धारपस्योपम काल कहते हैं । दस कोटाकोटी उद्धारपल्योपम का एक उद्धार-सागरोपम होता है। अताई उद्धारसागरोपम में जितने रोमखंड होते हैं, उतने ही द्वीप, समुद्र जानना चाहिए।

This Palya is called Vyavahar Palya.

From that Vyavahar Palya, one hair fragment should be removed every hundred years. The time it takes for this Palya to become empty is called Vyavahar Palyopama.

By imagining one hair fragment of Vyavahar Palya, create as many fragments as there are years in an innumerable koti (a very large number). Fill the second Palya with all these hair fragments. This is called Uddhar Palya.

From that Uddhar Palya, one fragment should be removed every moment. The time it takes for this Palya to become empty is called Uddhar Palyopama Kala.
