Karma-grantha Marga-dhara
According to Tattvartha Sutra 8.1, five causes of bondage are mentioned. As per that, Sarvarthasiddhi has considered the activities, the causes, and the mere existence of the remaining prakritis for the purpose of bondage. It has stated that the bondage of sixteen prakritis is due to mithyatva (false belief), the bondage of nineteen prakritis is due to avirati (non-abstinence), the bondage of six prakritis is due to pramada (carelessness), the bondage of fifty-two prakritis is due to kasaya (passions), and the bondage of one prakrti is due to yoga (activity).
It has made three divisions of avirati: anantanubandhi-kasaya-janita (caused by passions that lead to infinite transmigration), apratyakhyana-karana-kasaya (passions that do not obstruct renunciation), and pratyakhyana-avarana-kasaya-janita (passions that obstruct renunciation). The first one is the main cause of the bondage of twenty-five prakritis, and the third one is the cause of the bondage of thirty prakritis, making a total of fifty-five prakritis due to avirati.
In Pañcasaṃgraha, among the prakritis whose bondage is considered to be due to kasaya, the bondage of four prakritis is said to be due to pratyakhyana-avarana-kasaya-janita avirati, and the bondage of six prakritis is said to be due to pramada. Therefore, only the fifty-eight prakritis with kasaya-janita bondage are mentioned in Sarvarthasiddhi.
