'हे भगवन् ! कृष्णलेश्या वाले क्रियावादी (सम्यग्दृष्टि)' औव क्या नरकायु का बन्ध करते हैं इत्यादि ? हे गौतम! नरक आयु को नहीं बांधते हैं, तिच आयु को नहीं बाँधते हैं, मनुष्यायु को बांधते हैं, देवायुं को नहीं बाँधते हैं, और अक्रियावादी आदि मिथ्यादृष्टि चारों आयु का बन्ध करते हैं। इसी प्रकार नील और कापोत लेग्या वालों के लिए भी समझना !

'हे भगवन ! कृष्णलेश्या वाले सम्यग्दृष्टि पंचेन्द्रिय तिर्यच क्या नरकायु का बन्ध करते हैं ? गौतम ! वै नरकायु का वध नहीं करते हैं, तिचायु का बन्ध नहीं करते हैं, मनुष्यायु का बन्ध नहीं करते हैं, देवायु का बन्ध नहीं करते हैं और मिथ्यादृष्टि चारों आयु का बन्ध करते हैं। इसी प्रकार नील और कापोत लेश्या के लिए भी समझना चाहिए।
'जिस प्रकार से पंचेन्द्रिय तिर्वच जीवों के लिए कहा है वैसे ही मनुष्यों के लिये भी समझना चाहिए ।'
सिद्धान्त के उक्त कथन के आधार पर श्री जीवविजयजी और श्री जयसोमसूरि ने अपने-अपने टबे में शका उठाई है कि चौथे गुणस्थानवर्ती कृष्णादि तीन लेश्या वाले जीवों को देवायु का बन्धः नहीं माना जा सकता है । अतः चतुर्थ गुणस्थान में ७७ प्रकृतियों के बजाय देवायु के बिना ७६ प्रकृतियों का बन्ध माना जाना चाहिए। इस मभिन्नता का समाधान कहीं नहीं किया गया है। टबाकारों ने भी बहुतगम्य कहकर उसे छोड़ दिया है । गोम्मटसार कर्मकांड में तो इस शंका को स्थान ही नहीं है, क्योंकि वहाँ भगवती का पाठ मान्य करने का आग्रह नहीं है । परन्तु भगवती सूत्र को मानने वाले कर्मग्रांथिकों के लिए यह शंका उपेक्षणीय नहीं है ।
