छठे गुणस्थान के अन्तिम समय में हो जाने से सातवें गुणस्थान में ५७ प्रकृतियों का बन्ध होना चाहिए, किन्तु इस गुणस्थान में आहारकद्विक - आहारकशरीर और आहारक अंगोपांग - यह दो प्रकृतियाँ भी बन्धयोग्य होने से ५६ प्रकृतियाँ बन्धयोग्य मानी जाती हैं। लेकिन जो जीव छठे गुणस्थान में ही देवायु का भी बन्धविच्छेद कर सातवें गुणस्थान को प्राप्त करते हैं, उनकी अपेक्षा ५८ प्रकृतियां सातवें गुणस्थान में बन्धयोग्य मानी जाती हैं।
उक्त विभिन्नता का कारण यह है कि सातवें गुणस्थान को प्राप्त करने वाले जीव दो प्रकार के हैं
(१) जो छठे गुणस्थान में देशयुकेको प्रारम्भ उसे उसी गुणस्थान में समाप्त किये बिना ही सातवें गुणस्थान को प्राप्त करते हैं और सातवें गुणस्थान में देवायु के बन्ध को समाप्त करते हैं।
(२) जो देवायु के बन्ध का प्रारम्भ तथा उसका बिच्छेद इन दोनों को छठे गुणस्थान में ही करके सातवें गुणस्थान को प्राप्त करते हैं ।
उक्त दोनों प्रकार के जीवों में से पहले प्रकार के जोव तो छठे गुणस्थान के अन्तिम समय में शोक, अरति, अस्थिरनाम, अशुभनाम, arrata और असातावेदनीय इन छह प्रकृतियों का विच्छेद करके सातवे गुणस्थान को प्राप्त करते हैं। अतः इन जीवों की अपेक्षा छठे गुणस्थान की बन्धयोग्य ६३ प्रकृतियों में से उक्त अरति शोक आदि छह प्रकृतियों को कम करने से ५७ प्रकृतियाँ सातवें गुणस्थान में बन्धयोग्य होनी चाहिए थीं। लेकिन आहारकशरीर और आहारकअंगोपांग -- इन दो प्रकृतियों का उदय सातवें गुणस्थान में ही होने से इन दोनों का बन्ध भी सातवें गुणस्थान में होता है। अतः इन दो - प्रकृतियों के साथ ५७ प्रकृतियों को जोड़ने से सातवें गुणस्थान प्रकृतियाँ बन्धयोग्य हैं ।
