वर्ग हैं, जिनके सब अध्यवसाय मध्यम कहलाते हैं। प्रथम वर्ग के जघन्य अध्यवसायों की शुद्धि की अपेक्षा अन्तिम वर्ग के उत्कृष्ट अध्यवसायों की अनागरिक है और कीच के सत्र वर्गों में पूर्व-पूर्व वर्ग के अध्यवसायों की अपेक्षा उत्तर वर्ग के अध्यवसाय विशेष शुद्ध माने जाते हैं ।
सामान्यतः इस प्रकार समझना चाहिए कि समसमयवर्ती अध्यबसाय एक दूसरे से
—
(१) अनन्तभाग अधिक शुद्ध, (२) असंख्यातभाग अधिक शुद्ध,
(३) संख्यात भाग अधिक शुद्ध, (४) संख्यातगुण अधिक शुद्ध,
(५) असंख्यातगुण अधिक शुद्ध,
(६) अनन्तगुण अधिक शुद्ध होते हैं ।
इस प्रकार अधिक शुद्धि के पूर्वोक्त अनन्तभाग अधिक शुद्धि आदि छह प्रकारों को पद्स्थान कहते हैं।'
इस प्रकार शुद्धिकरण के क्रम में प्रथम समय के अध्यवसायों की अपेक्षा दूसरे समय के अध्यवसाय भिन्न ही होते हैं तथा प्रथम समय के जघन्य अध्यवसायों से प्रथम समय के उत्कृष्ट अध्यवसाय अनन्तगुण विशुद्ध और प्रथम समय के उत्कृष्ट अध्यवसायों से दूसरे समय के जघन्य अध्यवसाय भी अनन्तगुण विशुद्ध होते हैं। इस प्रकार अन्तिम समय तक पूर्व - पूर्व समय के अध्यवसायों से पर पर समय के अध्यवसाय
