। २७ ) प्रथम शक्ति को छिन्न-भिन्न करने योग्य आत्मबल प्रगट कर लेती है। यही विकास के प्रारम्भ होने की भूमिका है ।
स्वरूप-बोध का मार्ग प्रशस्त होने पर भी कभी आत्मा के परिणाम ऊर्ध्वमुखी होते हैं, कभी अधोमुखी बनते हैं। यह कम भी तब तक चलता रहता है जब तक आत्म-परिणामों में स्थायित्व नहीं आ जाता । यह स्थायित्व दो प्रकार से प्राप्त होता है-या तो स्वरूप-बोध के आवरण का पूर्णतया क्षय हो या बह आवरण शमित (शान्त) हो जाय। शमित होने की स्थिति में तो निमित्त मिलने पर आवरण अपना प्रभाव दिखाता है, लेकिन क्षय होने पर मरम्प-बोक्ष का सात माना जा रहा है।
दर्शनशक्ति के विकास के बाद चारित्रशक्ति के विकास का क्रम आता है। मोह की प्रधान शक्ति-दर्शनमोह को शिथिल करके स्वरूपदर्शन कर लेने के बाद भी जब तक दूसरी शक्ति- चारित्रमोह को शिथिल न किया जाये तब तक आत्मा की स्वरूपस्थिति नहीं हो सकती है। इसलिए वह मोह की दूसरी शक्ति को मन्द करने के लिए प्रयास करती है। जब वह उस शक्ति को अंशत: शिथिल कर पाती है, तब उसकी उत्क्रान्ति और भी ऊर्ध्वमुखी होने लगती है । जैसे-जैसे यह स्थिति वृद्धिगत होती है, वैसे-वैसे स्वरूपस्थिरता भी बढ़ती जाती है ।
इस अवस्था में भी दर्शनमोह को शमित करने वाली आत्मा स्वरूप-बोध से पतित होकर पुनः अपनी प्रारम्भिक अवस्था में आ सकती है और तब पूर्व में जो कुछ भी पारिणामिक शुद्धि आदि की थी, वह सब व्यर्थ-सी हो जाती है। लेकिन जिसने दर्शनमोह का सर्वथा नाश कर दिया है, यह आत्मा तो पूर्णता को प्राप्त करके ही विराम लेती है।
