जीवों को सास्वादनसम्यक्त्व नहीं होता है और सास्वादनसम्यक्त्वप्रतिपन्न जीव नरक में नहीं उपजता है। अतः सासादन गुणस्थान में नरकानुपूर्वी का उदय नहीं होता है।'
इस प्रकार पहले गुणस्थान के चरम समय में व्युच्छिन्न होने वाली सूक्ष्म आदि पांच एवं नरकानुपूर्वी कुल छह प्रकृतियों को पहले गुणस्थान की उदययोग्य ११७ प्रकृतियों में से कम करने पर दूसरे गुणस्थान में १११ प्रकृतियों का उदय माना जाता है।
अब तीसरे गुणस्थान की उदययोग्य प्रकृतियों की संख्या और दूसरे गुणस्थान के अन्त में उन्न होने वाली भातियों के नाम बतलाते हैं।
दूसरे गुणस्थान की उदययोग्य १११ प्रकृतियों में से अनन्तानुबन्धी. कषायचतुष्क–अनन्तानुबन्धी क्रोध, मान, माया, लोभ तथा स्थावरनाम, एकेन्द्रियजाति और विकलेन्द्रियत्रिक - द्वीन्द्रियजाति, त्रीन्द्रियजाति और चतुरिन्द्रियजाति-ये नौ प्रकृतियाँ दूसरे गुणस्थान के अन्तिम समय में विच्छिन्न हो जाती है। क्योंकि अनन्तानुबन्धीकपायचतुष्क का उदय पहले और दूसरे गुणस्थानों तक ही होता है, तथा स्थावरनामकर्म और एकेन्द्रियजाति, द्वीन्द्रियजाति, वीन्द्रियजाति आर चतुरिन्द्रियजाति नामकर्म के उदय वालों में पहला और दूसरा गुणस्थान होता है। तीसरे से लेकर आगे के गुणस्थान नहीं होते हैं। क्योंकि स्थावरनाम और एकेन्द्रियजातिनामकर्म का उदय एकेन्द्रिय जीवों को होता है तथा द्वीन्द्रियजातिनाम का उदय द्वीन्द्रिय जीवों को, त्रीन्द्रियजातिनाम का उदय त्रीन्द्रिय जीवों को और चतुरिन्द्रियजाति
