जैनशासन कि जिस प्रकार अलाउद्दीन, गजनवी, गोरी सदश, यवनोंने भारतीय मठ, मन्दिरों, अन्यभण्डारोंका अनन्त करतापूर्वक विनाश किया, उससे भी कहीं आगे बढ़कर धार्मिक अत्याचारोंका निशाना धन्धि विप्रवर्ग के इशारेपर हिन्दू नरेशोंने किया था । हमारे बहुमूल्य साहित्यका कैसा निमम नाश किया गया, इसका वर्णन सहृदय विद्वान प्रो. बार० साताचार्य, एम० ए० एल. टी. अपने कन्नड़ जैन साहित्य सम्बन्धो अंग्रेजी लेख करते हुए लिखत है

जिस प्रकार कूटनीतिश अंग्रेज भारतवासियोंका स्वार्थवश भान्त चित्रण करते हुए उनको लकड़हारे और पानी भरनेवाले (Hewers of wood and drawers of water) लिखते थे, उसी प्रकारको दुषित भावनावाले एक पादरी महादाय लिखते हैं- जैनियों के पास महत्व पूर्ण साहित्यका अभाव है, जिस धर्ममे इस प्रकारको मुख्य बातें मानो जायें, कि ईश्वरको नहीं मानो, मनुष्यकी पूजा करो, क्रूर सादिका संरक्षण करो, उस धर्मको जीवित रहनेका अधिकार नहीं है ।''१
