द्रुतविलम्बितम्
समभिवीक्ष्य समुज्ज्वलदर्पणे ।
अथ कदाचिदसौ वदनाम्बुजं
पलितमैचत दूतमिवागतं
परमभीयपदात् पुरुसंनिधेः ॥ ३९२ ॥ वसन्ततिलका
आलोक्य तं गतिमोहरसः स्वराज्यं
मस्या जरचूणमिवोद्गतयोधिन् । आदातुमात्महितमात्मजमर्ककी
लक्ष्म्या स्वया स्वयं मयोजय दूर्जितेच्छः ॥ ३६३॥ मालिनी विदितसतस्वः सोऽपश्यंस्य मार्ग

"जिगमिपुपसर्गमं निष्प्रयासम् । 'यमसमितिसमयं संयमं शम्पले वा
sदि विदितसमर्थाः किं परं प्रार्थयन्ते ॥ ३६४॥ भुजङ्गप्रयातम्
मन:पर्ययज्ञानमध्यस्व यः
समुत्पन्नव केवलं चानु तस्मात्" । तदैवाभवद् भव्यता तादृशी सा
विचित्राङ्गनां निर्वृतेः प्राप्तिरत्र ॥ ३६५॥ स्वदेशोद्भवैरेव संपूजितोऽसौ
सुरेन्द्रादिभिः सांप्रतं वन्द्यमानः | त्रिलोकाधिनाथोऽभवत् किं न साध्यं

तपो दुष्करं चेत् समादातुमीशः ॥ ३६६॥

अथानन्तर भरत महाराजने किसी समय उज्ज्वल दर्पण में अपना मुखकमल देखकर परम सुखके स्थान स्वरूप भगवान् वृषभदेवके पाससे आये हुए इसके समान सफेद बाल देखा || ३९२ ॥ उसे देखकर जिनका सब मोहरस गल गया है, जिन्हें आत्मज्ञान उत्पन्न हुआ है, जो आत्महितको ग्रहण करनेके लिए उद्युक्त हैं और जिनकी वैराग्यविषयक इच्छा अत्यन्त सुदृढ़ तथा वृद्धिशील है ऐसे भरतने अपने राज्यको जीर्णतृणके समान मानकर अपने पुत्र अर्ककीर्तिको अपनी लक्ष्मीसे युक्त किया अर्थात् अपनी समस्त सम्पत्ति अर्ककीर्तिको प्रदान कर दी ॥ ३९३ ॥ जिसने समस्त तत्त्वोंको जान लिया है और जो हीन जीवोंके द्वारा अगम्य मोक्षमार्ग में गमन करना चाहते हैं ऐसे चक्रवर्ती भरतने मार्ग हितकारी भोजनके समान प्रयासहीन यम तथा समितियोंसे पूर्ण संयमको धारण किया था सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि पदार्थके यथार्थ स्वरूपको समझनेवाले पुरुष संयमके सिवाय अन्य किसी पदार्थ की प्रार्थना नही करते हैं ? || ३६४ | उन्हें उसी समय मन:पर्ययज्ञान उत्पन्न हो गया और उसके बाद ही केवलज्ञान प्रकट हो गया। उनकी वैसी भव्यता उसी समय प्रकट हो गयी सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि प्राणियोंको मोक्षकी प्राप्ति बड़ी विचित्र होती है || ३६५|| जो भरत पहले अपने देश में उत्पन्न हुए राजाओंसे ही पूजित थे वे अब इन्द्रोंके द्वारा भी वन्दनीय हो गये । इतना ही नहीं, तीन लोकके स्वामी भी हो गये सो ठीक ही है जो कठिन तपश्चरण ग्रहण करने के लिए समर्थ रहता है उसे क्या-क्या वस्तु साध्य

## Hastened and Delayed

Seeing his own face in a bright mirror, he [Bharata] noticed his white hair, like a messenger arriving from the abode of supreme bliss. || 392 ||

Seeing him, those whose hearts were filled with the allure of worldly pleasures, whose minds were filled with the dust of old age, who were eager to attain self-benefit, and whose desire for renunciation was strong and ever-growing, those Bharatas, considering their kingdom like withered grass, bestowed their son, Arka Kirti, with their wealth, their Lakshmi. || 393 ||

Knowing the true nature of all things, and desiring to tread the path of liberation, inaccessible to the lowly, the Chakravarti Bharata embraced the effortless **Yama** and **Samiti**, like a nourishing meal. This is fitting, for those who understand the true nature of things do not seek anything other than **Samyama**. || 364 ||

At that very moment, he attained **Manas-Paryaya Jnana** and then **Kevala Jnana** manifested. His magnificence was revealed at that very moment. This is fitting, for the attainment of liberation for beings is indeed extraordinary. || 365 ||

Bharata, who was previously worshipped by the kings born in his own land, is now also worshipped by the Indras. Not only that, he became the lord of the three worlds. This is fitting, for what is impossible for one who is capable of undertaking difficult austerities? || 366 ||
