________________ १०४ आदिपुराणम् पितुर्मानोरिवापायात् कुरुविन्दोऽरविन्दवत् । परिम्लामतनुच्छायः स शोच्यामगमद् दशाम् ॥११६॥ तथात्रैव भववंशे विस्तीणें जलधाविव । दण्डो नाम्नामवत् खेन्द्रो दण्डितारातिमण्डलः ॥११७॥ मणिमालीत्यभूत्तस्मात् सूनुमणिरिवाम्बुधैः । नियोज्य यौवराज्ये तं स्वेष्टान् भोगानभुङ्क्त सः ॥११८॥ भुक्त्वापि सुचिरं भोगान्नातृप्यद् विषयोत्सुकः । प्रत्युतासक्तिममजत् स्त्रीवस्त्राभरणादिषु ॥११९॥ सोऽत्यन्तविषयासक्तिकृतकौटिल्य चेष्टितः । वबन्ध तीव्रसंक्लेशात् तिरश्चामायुरात॑धीः ॥१२०॥ जीवितान्ते स दुनिमार्समापूर्य दुर्मुतेः । माण्डागारे निजे मोहान् महानजगरोऽजनि ॥१२॥ स जातिस्मरतां गत्वा माण्डागारिकवद् भृशम् । तत्प्रवेशे निजं सूनुमन्वमंस्त न चापरम् ॥१२२॥ अन्येचुरवधिज्ञानलोचनान्मुनिपुङ्गवात् । मणिमाली पितुर्ज्ञात्वा तं वृत्तान्तमशेषतः ॥१२३॥ पितृभक्त्या सतन्मर्छामपहर्तुं मनाः सुधीः । 'शयोरग्र शनैः स्थित्वा स्नेहादा गिरमभ्यधात्।।१२४॥ पितः पतितवानस्यां कुयोनावधुना स्वकम् । विषयासजदोषेण तमो धनर्द्धिषु ॥१२५॥ ततो धिगिदमत्यन्तकटुकं विषयामिषम् । 'वमैतद् दुर्जरं तात किम्पाकफलसनिमम् ।।१२६।। रहित हो जाता है अथवा सूर्य अस्त हो जानेसे जिस प्रकार कमल मुरझा जाता है उसी प्रकार पिताकी मृत्युसे कुरुविन्दने अपना मुँह नीचा कर लिया, उसका सब तेज जाता रहा तथा सारा शरीर मुरझा गया-शिथिल हो गया। इस प्रकार वह शोचनीय अवस्थाको प्राप्त हुआ था ॥११५-११६।। हे राजन् , अब दूसरी कथा सुनिए-समुद्रके समान विस्तीर्ण आपके इस वंशमें एक दण्ड नामका विद्याधर हो गया है । वह बड़ा प्रतापी था। उसने अपने समस्त शत्रुओंको दण्डित किया था ॥११७। जिस प्रकार समुद्रसे मणि उत्पन्न होता है उसी प्रकार उस दण्ड विद्याधरसे भी मणिमाली नामका पुत्र उत्पन्न हुआ। जब वह बड़ा हुआ तब राजा दण्डने उसे युवराजपदपर नियुक्त कर दिया और आप इच्छानुसार भोग भोगने लगा॥११८॥ वह विषयों में इतना अधिक उत्सुक हो रहा था कि चिरकाल तक भोगोंको भोगकर भी तृप्त नहीं होता था बल्कि स्त्री, वस्त्र तथा आभूषण आदिमें पहलेकी अपेक्षा अधिक आसक्त होता जाता था ।।११९॥ अत्यन्त विषयासक्तिके कारण मायाचारी चेष्टाओंको करनेवाले उस आतध्यानी राजाने तीव्र संक्लेश भावोंसे तिर्यश्च आयुका बन्ध किया॥१२०।। चूँकि मरते समय उसका आर्तध्यान नामका कुध्यान पूर्णताको प्राप्त हो रहा था, इसलिए कुमरणसे मरकर वह मोहके उदयसे अपने भण्डारमें बड़ा भारी अजगर हुआ ।।१२१।। उसे जातिस्मरण भी हो गया था इसलिए वह भण्डारीकी तरह भण्डारमें केवल अपने पुत्रको ही प्रवेश करने देता था अन्यको नहीं ॥१२२।। एक दिन अतिशय बुद्धिमान राजा मणिमाली किन्हीं अवधिज्ञानी मुनिराजसे पिताके अजगर होने आदिका समस्त वृत्तान्त मालूम कर पितृ-भक्तिसे उनका मोह दूर करनेके लिए भण्डारमें गया और धीरेसे अजगरके आगे खड़ा होकर स्नेहयुक्त वचन कहने लगा ॥१२३-१२४।। हे पिता. तमने धन. ऋद्धि आदिमें अत्यन्त ममत्व और विषयोंमें अत्यन्त आसक्ति की थी इसी दोषसे तुम इस समय इस कुयोनिमें-सर्पपर्यायमें आकर पड़े हो ।।१२५।। यह विषयरूपी आमिष अत्यन्त कटुक है, दुर्जर है और किंपाक (विषफल) फलके समान है इसलिए धिक्कारके योग्य है। हे पिताजी, इस विषयरूपी आमिषको अब भी छोड़ दो ॥१२६।। १. अवस्थाम् । २. पुनः किमिति चेत् । ३. कौटिल्यं माया। ४. अज्ञानम् । ५. अजगरस्य । ६. आसन्नः आसक्तिः । ७. धृतमोहः । ८. संभोगः । 'आमिषं पलले लोभे संभोगोत्कोचयोरपि' इत्यभिधानात् । ९. उद्गारं कुरु ।
