आगम सूत्र २८, पयन्नासूत्र-५, 'तन्दुलवैचारिक'
सूत्र'महिलिका', मर्द को हावभाव से रमण करवाती है इसलिए 'रमा', मर्दो को अपने अंग में राग करवाती है इसलिए 'अंगना', कई तरह के युद्ध-कलह-संग्राम-अटवी में भ्रमण, बिना प्रयोजन कर्ज लेना, शर्दी, गर्मी का दुःख और क्लेश खड़े करने के आदि कार्य में वो मर्द को प्रवृत्त करती है इसलिए ललना', योग-नियोग द्वारा पुरुष को बस में करती है इसलिए योषित्' एवं विविध भाव द्वारा पुरुष की वासना उद्दीप्त करती है इसलिए वनिता कहलाती है।
किसी स्त्री प्रमत्तभाव को, किसी प्रणय विभ्रम को और किसी श्वास के रोगी की तरह शब्द-व्यवहार करते हैं । कोई शत्रु जैसी होती है और कोई रो-रो कर पाँव पर प्रणाम करती हैं । कोई स्तुति करती है । कोई आश्चर्य, हास्य और कटाक्ष से देखती है । कोई विलासयुक्त मधुर वचन से, कोई हास्य चेष्टा से, कोई आलिंगन से, कोई सीत्कार के शब्द से, कोई गृहयोग के प्रदर्शन से, कोई भूमि पर लिखकर या चिह्न करके, कोई वांस पर चड़कर नत्य द्वारा, कोई बच्चे के आलिंगन द्वारा, कोई अंगली के टचाके, स्तन मर्दन और कटितट पीडन आदि से पुरुष को आकृष्ट करती है । यह स्त्री विघ्न करने में जाल की तरह, फाँसने में कीचड़ की तरह, मारने में मौत की तरह, जलाने में अग्नि की तरह और छिन्न-भिन्न करने में तलवार जैसी होती है। सूत्र- १४४
स्त्री कटारी जैसी तीक्ष्ण, श्याही जैसी कालिमा, गहन वन जैसी भ्रमित करनेवाली, अलमारी और कारागार जैसी बँधनकारक, प्रवाहशील अगाध जल की तरह भयदायक होती है। सूत्र-१४५
यह स्त्री सेंकड़ों दोष की गगरी, कईं तरह अपयश फैलानेवाली कुटील हृदया, छलपूर्ण सोचवाली होती है सूत्र - १४६
यह स्त्रियाँ एकमें रत होती हैं, अन्य के साथ क्रीड़ा करती हैं, अन्य के साथ नयन लड़ाती हैं और अन्य के पार्श्व में जाकर ठहरती है । उसके स्वभाव को बुद्धिमान भी नहीं जान सकते । सूत्र - १४७, १४८
गंगा के बालुकण, सागर का जल, हिमवत् का परिमाण, उग्रतप का फल, गर्भ से उत्पन्न होनेवाला बच्चा; शेर की पीठ के बाल, पेट में रहा पदार्थ, घोड़े को चलने की आवाज उसे शायद बुद्धिमान मानव जान शके लेकिन स्त्री के दिल को नहीं जान सकता। सूत्र - १४९
इस तरह के गुण से युक्त यह स्त्री बंदर जैसी चंचल मनवाली और संसारमें भरोसा करने के लायक नहीं है। सूत्र - १५०

**Sūtra 145**: This woman is sharp like a dagger, dark like ink, confusing like a dense forest, binding like a cupboard and a prison, and frightening like a deep, flowing river.

**Sūtra 146**: This woman is a vessel of hundreds of faults, a spreader of various kinds of disgrace, with a crooked heart, and deceitful thoughts.

**Sūtra 147, 148**: These women are engaged with one, play with another, exchange glances with another, and stay by the side of another. Even the wise cannot know her nature.
