શકારિ વિક્રમાદિત્ય

વિક્રમાદિત્યર (ઇ. સ. ૩૮૦-૪૧૪) ઉજૈન મુકામે શકારિ સિવાય તેના બીજા પણ બે ત્રણ નામે શક સત્તાને હમેશ માટે કચરી નાંખી–પ્રથમ અને જણાયાં છે. એક વિક્રમસેન છે. બીજું વિક્રમસિંહ૧૮ દ્વિતીય વિક્રમાદિત્ય વચ્ચેના તફાવતની કાંઈજ ઓળખ પણ છે. જ્યારે અમરકોષમાં તેનું નામ શકકર૦ હિંદી દંતકથામાં દર્શાવાઈ નથી-તેના નામને જે સંવત જણાવાયું છે. આટલું કહીને આપણે હવે અનેક વિદ્વાનોના ઈ. સ. પૂ. ૫૭માં આરંભાય છે તેના સંભવિત સ્થાપક, અભિપ્રાયની સમાચના કરીશું.
તથા જે કાલીદાસ તેની પાછળ ચારસે વરસે થયા (૧) એક લેખક જણાવે છે કે ૨૧-Chandra- છે તેના આશ્રયદાતા, એમ બન્ને વ્યક્તિ એકજ gupta II Vikramaditya A. D. 389-414 દેખાય છે.” એટલે આ કથનના લેખકની માન્યતા

ટા પાડવાનો પ્રયન કરે નીરર્થક છે. “પરાક્રમના સર્ય” (૨૧) કે. હિ. ઈ. ૫. ૫૩૩.
