DHRANGADHRA 21-9-6
The
Resident general secretary Jain Swetamber conference office,
Champagali, Bombay. SIR,
I have the honour under instructions from His Highness the Maharaja Rajsaheb to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 18th instant and to state that the killing of an animal on the Dasara holiday was a religious rite performed in the Jhala family of the Rajputs whose head His Highness the Rajsaheb is, but that since his accession to the gadi, which went took place in December 1900, His Highness has prohibited this ceremony out of regard to the common principles of humanity so nobly cherished by the Jain community,
The right has ceased altogether in this state and I may remind you, that His Highness' action was myde the subject of a congratulatory address presented to His Highness when he visited Bombay in 1902 at à public Meeting of which you were the president.
I have the honour to be
Sir, Your most obedient servant Parshurain B, Purmarker
Private Secretary to. H.H. the Rajsaheb Dhrangadra.
