યોગદષ્ટિસમુચ્ચય
તેમજ જલ મૂળ શીતલ સ્વભાવી છે, અને તેથી ભીંજાવાય છે, છતાં કુતર્ક કરનાર એમ સાબિત કરવા પ્રયત્ન કરશે કે–પાણીને સ્વભાવ દઝાડવાને છે, કારણ કે પાણી અગ્નિની હાજરીમાં દઝાડે છે, ઉષ્ણ જલ દઝાડે છે, એ પ્રત્યક્ષ અનુભવ છે. આમ વસ્તુસ્વભાવના એઠા નીચે કુતર્ક કરનાર પિતાને મનફાવતો અર્થ એક જ વાતમાંથી ઉતારી શકે છે !
શું? તે કહે છે
कोशपानादृते ज्ञानोपायो नास्त्यत्र युक्तितः। विप्रकृष्टोऽप्ययस्कान्तः स्वार्थकद्दश्यते यतः ॥ ९४ ॥ કેશપાન વિના બીજ, હેય ન જ્ઞાન ઉપાય; એવું પણ યુક્તિ થકી, અત્રે સ્થાપિત થાય! કારણ દૂર રહ્યો છતાં, લેહચુંબ પાષાણ;
સ્વાર્થ કાર્ય કરત સદા, દેખાયે આ ઠાણ, ૯૪
અર્થ-અત્રે યુક્તિથી કોશપાન સિવાય જ્ઞાન ઉપાય છે નહિ; કારણ કે વિપ્રકૃષ્ટ ( દૂર રહેલો) લેહચુંબક પણ સ્વાર્થ કરનારે (પિતાનું કાર્ય કરનારે) દેખાય છે.
વિવેચન ત્યારે કોઈ વળી એમ કહેશે કે કેશપાન (શબ્દકેષ પી જ–ગોખી જ તે) સિવાય જ્ઞાનને બીજો ઉપાય નથી ! એમ અત્રે સ્વભાવના પ્રસંગમાં શુષ્ક તની યુક્તિથી સ્થાપિત થઈ શકશે. જે સ્વભાવની જ વાત કર્યા કરશે, તે કઈ વળી એ જ સ્વભાવની યુક્તિ આગળ ધરીને ઉપર પ્રમાણે દલીલ કરશે. તેમાં વળી કઈ વિપ્રકર્ષને (Far-letched argument) એટલે દૂરપણાન–છેટાપણાને વાંધો લેશે, તે તે પણ આ લેહચુંબક દૃષ્ટાંતથી દૂર કરી શકાશેઃ-દૂર રહેલે અયસ્કાંત-લેહચુંબક પત્થર પણ સ્વાર્થ સાધે છે, અર્થાત્ લેઢાનું આકર્ષણ વગેરે પિતાનું કાર્ય કરવાને સ્વભાવ ધરાવતે દેખાય છે.
કૃત્તિ-જોરાપાના તે કોશપાન સિવાય, જ્ઞાનોપા નાસ્થત્ર-જ્ઞાનઉપાય અ-સ્વભાવ વ્યતિકરમાં (પ્રસંગમાં ) છે નહિં, પુતિઃ યુક્તિથી, શુષ્ક તર્ક યુક્તિથી, કોઈ બીજું દષ્ટાંત પણ આ અર્થનું સમર્થક એવું વિદ્યમાન છે જ, એટલા માટે કહ્યું -વિલોડરદાન્તઃ-વિપ્રકૃષ્ટ-દૂર રહેલો એવો અયસ્કાંત-લેહાકર્ષક પત્થરવિશેષ, સ્વાર્થ-સ્વાર્થ કરનારો, લેહાકર્ષણ આદિ સ્વકાર્ય કરણરૂપ સ્વભાવવાળો, દફતે ચતા –કારણ કે દેખાય છે.
પર તે જ વિપ્રકૃષ્ટ જ-દૂર રહેલે જ એવો સંનિકૃષ્ટ લોહને જ, નહિં કે તામ્રાદિને, આકર્ષે જ છે, નહિ કે કાપે છે. તેથી આમ આની જેમ અગ્નિ આદિનું તથાસ્વભાવ કપન કોનાથી બાધિત થાય ? કેઈથી નહિં, એમ ભાવવા યોગ્ય છે.
