ગદરિસર્ભાશય દાણુ ઉદયી ગલ સમા, તુછ કુસુખે સક્ત;
ત્યજે સુચેષ્ટા-ધિક અહે, દારુણ તમને અત્ર! ૮૪ અર્થ –બડિશામિષ એટલે માછલાના ગળાના માંસ જેવા તુચ્છ, તથા દારુણ ઉદય-વિપાકવાળા કુસુખમાં સક્ત થયેલા તેઓ સચેષ્ટા ત્યજે છે! અહો ! દારુણ તમનેઅજ્ઞાન અંધકારને ધિક્કાર હો !
વિવેચન તે ભવાભિનંદી જે મનુષ્ય જન્મનું સાર્થક્ય તે કરતા નથી, પણ ઉલટું તેને વેડફી નાંખે છે; મનુષ્ય અવતારરૂપ ધર્મબીજની ખેતી કરવી તે દૂર રહી, પણ તે બીજને
જ સડાવી નાંખે છે ! કમાણી કરવી તે દૂર રહી, ઉલટી મૂડી ગુમાવી ગલની લાલચે નુકશાની જ કરે છે ! નફાના બદલે બોટને વ્યાપાર કરે છે ! કારણ બૂરા હાલ કે તેઓ માછલાના ગળાના માંસ જેવા તુચ્છ અને દારુણ-ભયંકર
વિપાકવાળા દુષ્ટ ભેગજન્ય વિષયસુખમાં સક્ત થાય છે. માછલાને લલચાવવા માટે મચ્છીમારે માછલાના ગળાનું માંસ-ગલ આરમાં ભરાવીને મૂકે છે. માછલું તે તુચ્છ માંસ ખાવાની લાલચે, તેની પાછળ દોડી, તે આરમાં સપડાઈ જાય છે, અને પછી તેના ભૂંડા હાલહવાલ થાય છે, પ્રાણત દારુણ દુઃખ તે અનુભવે છે. તેમ મેહરૂપ માછીમાર જીવરૂપ માછલાને લલચાવવા માટે દુષ્ટ વિષયસુખરૂપ ગલ મૂકે છે, તે તુચ્છ અસત્ સુખની આશાએ તે તેની પાછળ દેડી તેમાં સપડાઈ જાય છે, આસક્ત થાય છે. અને પછી તેના બૂરા હાલહવાલ થાય છે, નરકાદિના દારુણ દુઃખ વિપાક તેને દવા પડે છે. આમ રસનેંદ્રિયની લેલુપતાથી જેમ માછલું સપડાઈને દુઃખી થાય છે તેમ પશેન્દ્રિયને વશ થવાથી મદોન્મત્ત હાથી પણ બંધન પામે છે, ચક્ષુઈન્દ્રિયને વશ થવાથી પતગીએ દીપકમાં ઝંપલાવી બળી મરે છે, ઘાણે દ્રિયને વશ થવાથી ભમરો કમળમાં પૂરાઈ જઈ પ્રાણાંત દુઃખ પામે છે, શ્રોત્રંદ્રિયને વશ થવાથી મૃગલાં પારધિની જાલમાં સપડાઈ જાય છે. આમ એકેક દાદ્રિય વિષયના પરવશપણાથી પ્રાણી દાણુ વિપાક પામે છે, તો પછી પાંચ ઇન્દ્રિય જ્યાં મોકળી હોય, એ ભવાભિનંદી જીવ તે કેટલું દુઃખ પામે એમાં પૂછવું જ શું ?
"करिझषमधुपा रे शलभमृगादयो, विषयविनोदरसेन । हंत लभंते रे विविधा वेदना, बत परिणतिविरसेन ॥
જિળવા રે ગુઋસિમિતાબવા ” –શ્રી વિનયવિજયજીકૃત શાંતસુધારસ, માટે કહ્યું –ધિકાદો વા તH:-અહો ! દારુણ તમને ધિક્કાર છે ! આ કારણે અસાન અંધકારને ધિક્કાર છે ! આ કષ્ટરૂ૫ અજ્ઞાન છે, એમ અર્થ છે.

Just as a fish gets trapped and suffers greatly after being lured by the flesh of its own neck placed as bait, similarly the living being gets trapped and suffers terribly after being lured by the vile sensual pleasures placed by the deceitful 'fisherman'.

Just as the fish, due to the greed of the tongue, rushes towards the insignificant flesh and gets trapped, similarly the living being, due to the subjugation of the senses, becomes intoxicated and gets trapped. Thereafter, they experience dreadful sufferings of the hellish states.

Thus, due to the greed of the senses, just as the fish suffers, similarly the elephant intoxicated by pride gets bound, the moth burns itself in the flame, the bee drowns in the lotus, and the deer gets trapped in the hunter's net. In this way, the living being experiences dreadful karmic fruits due to the subjugation of each sense organ to its respective sense object.

Then, what to say about the one in whom all five senses are free - the one who delights in the cycle of births and deaths? Surely, they must experience immense suffering.

"O bees, moths, deer and others! Alas, they experience various pains due to the intoxicating taste of sensual pleasures. Woe unto them for their bitter end!"
- As said by Shri Vinayavijayaji in 'Shantasudharasam', the meaning is: Alas! Dreadful is their state of ignorance, which is the cause of their misery.
