ગદષ્ટિસમુચ્ચય વળી કેડ વાંકી હાડ ગયા અંગ રંગ ગયે, ઊઠવાની આય જતાં લાકડી લેવાઈ ગઈ; અહો રાજ્યચંદ્ર ! એમ યુવાની હરાઈ પણ, મનથી ને તેય રાંડ મમતા મરાઈ ગઈ.”
તેમજ કોઢ વગેરે અનેક જાતના દુ:સાધ્ય અસાધ્ય વ્યાધિઓ (Chronic diseases) અથવા વિસૂચિકા (Cholera) વગેરે અનેક તીવ્ર આત્યંતિક પીડા ઉપજાવનારા-વેદનામય રેગે (Acute Ailments) જ્યારે આ શરીર પર આક્રમણ કરે છે, જ્યારે આ શરીર પર જોરથી હલે લાવી તેને ચોતરફથી ઘેરી વળે છે, ત્યારે આ પિતાને હાલ દેહ પણ અત્યંત અકારો થઈ પડે છે, અને તે છોડવાનું મન પણ કયારેક થઈ આવે, એવું અસહ્ય દુ:ખ અત્ર વેદાય છે. જ્યારે એ રેગી જણાશે, મૂકવાનું મન થાશે;
તન તું ગણે છે તારું રે, તે નથી તારું.”—કવિ શ્રી દલપતરામ, તથા ઈષ્ટ વસ્તુને વિયોગ થતાં કે અનિષ્ટને સંગ થતાં, તેને શોક કરવારૂપ આંતરું દુઃખ અત્રે હૃદયને અત્યંત સંતાપ આપે છે. કેઈ ઇચ્છ–મને વાંચ્છિત વસ્તુ ન મળી,
તે અરેરે ! આ મને ન મળી, આ લાગ આવ્યું હતું તે મારા શોક હાથમાંથી હાથતાળી દઈને ચાલ્યા ગયે, એમ અંતસ્તાપ થાય છે.
અથવા સ્વજનાદિ કોઈ ઈષ્ટ-પ્રિય જનને મૃત્યુ આદિ કારણે વિયેગ થાય તો તેને શોચ થયા કરે છે કે-અરે ! આ તે ગયે, એના વિના હું કેમ જીવીશ ? અથવા રેગાપત્તિ, ધનહાનિ, કે માનહાનિ આદિ કેઈ અનિષ્ટ પ્રસંગ આવી પડે, ત્યારે પણ એ ઝૂર્યા કરે છે કે–અરે ! આ અનિષ્ટ પ્રસંગ કેમ દૂર થશે ? આ મુશ્કેલીમાંથી કયારે આરે આવશે ? ઈત્યાદિ અનેક પ્રકારે આ સંસારમાં ઈષ્ટના અસંગથી કે વિયેગથી, અથવા અનિષ્ટના સંયેગથી કે અવિયેગથી આર્તધ્યાનરૂપ શેકથી ઉપજતું આંતર્ દુઃખ જીવના હૃદયને કીડાની જેમ કોરી ખાય છે. આ બધાના સારસમુચ્ચયરૂપ જીવંત શબ્દચિત્ર આ છે –
એક તરુણ સુકુમારને રોમે રેમે લાલચોળ સુયા ઘેચવાથી જે અસહા વેદના ઉપજે છે, તે કરતાં આઠગુણ વેદના ગર્ભ સ્થાનમાં જીવ જ્યારે રહે છે ત્યારે પામે છે. લગભગ નવ મહિના
મળ, મૂત્ર, લેહી, પરુ આદિમાં અહેરાવ્ય મૂચ્છગત સ્થિતિમાં વેદના દુઃખ સુખ જોગવી ભેળવીને જન્મ પામે છે. ગર્ભ સ્થાનની વેદનાથી અનંતગુણ વિદને ને દુઃખ જન્મસમયે ઉત્પન્ન થાય છે. ત્યાર પછી બાળાવસ્થા પમાય છે. મળ, મૂત્ર,
ધૂળ, અને નગ્નાવસ્થામાં અણસમજથી રઝળી રડીને તે બાળાવસ્થા પૂર્ણ થાય છે, અને યુવાવસ્થા આવે છે. ધન ઉપાર્જન કરવા માટે નાના પ્રકારના પાપમાં પડવું પડે છે જ્યાંથી ઉત્પન્ન થયે છે ત્યાં એટલે વિષય વિકારમાં વૃત્તિ જાય છે. ઉન્માદ, આળસ, અભિમાન, નિંદ્ય દષ્ટિ, સંગ, વિયેગ, એમ ઘટમાળમાં યુવાવય ચાલ્યું જાય છે.

At the time of birth, infinite times more pain and sorrow are produced than the pain of the womb. After that, childhood is reached. In the state of nakedness, with feces, urine,
dust, and without understanding, it cries and wanders around, and childhood is completed, and youth arrives. To earn wealth, one has to fall into minor sins, from which the tendency towards worldly desires arises. Madness, laziness, pride, contemptuous vision, association, separation, thus youth passes in a whirlwind.
