ઈલેને ઈતર ઘાતી પ્રકૃતિ જ્ઞાનાવરણીય, દર્શનાવરણીય, અંતરાય પણ બંધાવા લાગી, તેમ જ વેદનીય, આયુ, નામ, ગેત્ર એ અઘાતિ પ્રકૃતિને પણ બંધ થવા લાગ્યા. અને મૂળ શુદ્ધ સ્વભાવે મુક્ત આત્મા અષ્ટવિધ કર્મની બેડીના ગાઢા બંધને બંધાઈ સંસારચક્રમાં અનંત જન્મમરણપરંપરારૂપ પરિભ્રમણ દુઃખ પામી રહ્યો. આમ દર્શનમેહ-મિથ્યાદર્શન (મિથ્યાત્વ) સેનાનાયકે પ્રવેશ કરતાં, તેની અનુગામિની સમસ્ત કર્મ–સેનાએ આત્મા પર આક્રમણ (Invasion) કર્યું, આત્મપ્રદેશ પર જોરદાર હલે કર્યો અને તેના ક્ષેત્રને ખેદાનમેદાન કરી નાખ્યું ! રાજાધિરાજ મેહ-રાયે દબદબાભરી રીતે ચૈતન્ય-પુરમાં પ્રવેશ કર્યો, એટલે તેની જય પોકારતા સમસ્ત કર્મ પરિવારે પોતાના તે અન્નદાતાની પાછળ પાછળ અનુપ્રવેશ કરી આત્મપ્રદેશને ઘેરી લીધે! અને પિતાના પુદ્ગલ-ક્ષેત્રમાં અતિક્રમણ (Transgression, Trespass) કરવાના અપરાધ બદલ આત્માને બંદિવાન બનાવી સંસારની હેડમાં પૂ! ને “વેરની વસુલાત” કરી !
ક” અનંત પ્રકારના, તેમાં મુખ્ય આઠ તેમાં મુખ્ય મેહનીય, હણાય તે કહું પાઠ. કર્મ મોહનીય ભેદ બે, દર્શનચારિત્ર નામ;
હણે બે વીતરાગતા, અચૂક ઉપાય આમ.” શ્રી આત્મસિદ્ધિ. સ્વભાવરૂપ સ્વધર્મને છેડી આત્માએ પરભાવ પ્રત્યે ગમન કર્યું, તેથી વિભાવરૂપ અધર્મ તેને વળગે, અને તેથી કરીને કર્મ—રાહુએ આત્મ-ચંદ્રનું ગ્રહણ-સન કર્યું, તેને દારુણ વિપાક આત્માને પિતાને જ ભેગવ પડ્યો; પારકા ક્ષેત્રમાં હસ્તક્ષેપ કરવારૂપ પાપ–અપરાધને બદલે મળે, “હાથનાં કર્યા હૈયે વાગ્યાં!” “ઘરઘ મચાવ” થઈ પડ્યો! આ જીવની ઘણી મોટી ભૂલ-“એક તેલામાં મણની ભૂલ” જેવી ગંભીર ભૂલ થઈ ! પિતે પિતાને ભૂલી ગયે, આનાથી તે મોટું બીજુ અંધેર કયું? “આપ આપકું ભૂલ ગયા, ઈનસે
ક્યા અધેર !” દેહમાં આત્મબુદ્ધિરૂપ આ મૂલગત ભૂલને લઈને બીજી આનુષંગિક ભૂલની પણ ભૂલભૂલામણીરૂપ જટિલ જાલ જામી ગઈ. “મૂલ ડે ને વ્યાજડે ઘણે” વધી પડ્યો ! એક જ ભૂલનું કેવું ભયંકર પરિણામ !
અથવા પ્રકારાંતરે વિચારીએ તે જગતની મેહ-માયાજાલમાં લપટાવનાર નામચીન મહનીય કર્મના બે ભેદ છે. દર્શન મેહ અને ચારિત્રમેહ. તેમાં (૧) દેહાદિ પરવસ્તુમાં આત્મબ્રાંતિરૂપ દર્શનમેહને લીધે જીવને મિથ્યાદર્શન અથવા મિથ્યાત્વ હોય છે, અને તેથી ચારિત્રમોહ પણ ઉપજે છે. (૨) એટલે પરભાવમાં આત્મબુદ્ધિ હોવાથી જીવ પરભાવથી વિરામ પામતે નથી ને અવિરતિ રહે છે. (૩) આમ પરભાવ પ્રત્યે ગમન–પરિણમન કરતે હેવાથી તે સ્વરૂપ-ભ્રષ્ટતારૂપ પ્રમાદને પામે છે. (૪) અને તે પરભાવની પ્રાપ્તિ-અપ્રાપ્તિના નિમિત્તે તે ક્રોધાદિ કષાય કરી રાગદ્વેષાદિ વિભાવ ભાવને
