Study of Dharma Commentary - That which is earned is called wealth. ________________ धर्म अध्ययन टीका - अर्यते इत्यर्थो-धनधान्यहिरण्यादिकः पद्यते-गम्यते येनार्थस्तत्पदं शास्त्रं अर्थार्थं परमर्थपदं चाणाक्यादिकमर्थशास्त्रं तन्न 'शिक्षेत्' नाभ्यस्येत् नाप्यपरं प्राण्युपमर्दकारि शास्त्रं शिक्षयेत्, यदिवा-'अष्टापदं द्युतक्रीडाविशेषस्तं न शिक्षेत, नापि पूर्वशिक्षितमनुशीलयेदिति, तथा वेधो' धर्मानुवेधस्तस्मादतीतं सद्धर्मानुवेधातीतम्अधर्मप्रधानं वचो नो वदेत् यदिवा-वेध इति वस्त्रवेधो द्यूतविशेषस्तगतं वचनमपि नोवदेद् आस्तां तावत्क्रीडनमिति, हस्तकर्म प्रतीतं, यदि वा-'हस्तकर्म' हस्तक्रिया परस्परं हस्तव्यापारप्रधानः कलहस्तं, तथा विरुद्धवादं विवादं शुष्कवादमित्यर्थः, चः समुच्चये, तदेतत्सर्वं संसारभ्रमणकारणं ज्ञपरिज्ञया परिज्ञाय प्रत्याख्यान परिज्ञया प्रत्याचक्षीत् ॥१७॥ टीकार्थ - जो अर्जित किया जाता है उसे अर्थ कहते हैं । वह धन, धान्य तथा हिरण्य आदि है। वह अर्थ जिसके द्वारा उपलब्ध होता है, मिलता है उसे अर्थपद कहते हैं अथवा अर्थ या धन अर्जित करने के लिए जो शास्त्र है, उसे अर्थपद कहा जाता है । चाणक्य द्वारा रचित अर्थशास्त्र अर्थपद है । साधु उसका अभ्यास-अध्ययन न करे । उन दूसरे शास्त्रों का भी अभ्यास न करे, जो प्राणियों की हिंसा की शिक्षा देते हैं। गाथा में आये अट्ठावय पद का संस्कृत में अष्टापद् भी होता है । द्यूतक्रीड़ा को अष्टापद कहा जाता है । साधु उसका शिक्षण न ले । उसे न सीखे तथा यदि उसने पहले द्यूत-जूए का शिक्षण पाया हो तो उसका अनुशीलन न करे । धर्म का उल्लंघन वेध कहा जाता है । जिस द्वारा धर्म का उल्लंघन हो ऐसा अधर्ममय वचन साधु न कहे । अथवा वेध, वस्त्र वेध का भी बोधक है । वस्त्र वेध द्यूत का एक प्रकार है । साधु तद्विषयक वचन भी न बोले फिर द्यत क्रीडा या जआ खेलने की तो बात ही क्या । हस्तकर्म अथवा हस्तक्रिया परस्पर आपस में एक दूसरे को हाथों से-मुक्कों आदि से मारने पीटने के रूप में कलह तथा विरुद्ध वाद, शुष्क निरर्थकवादविवाद आदि संसार भ्रमण के कारण हैं । यह जानकर साधु उनका परित्याग करे । यहाँ चय शब्द समुच्चय के अर्थ में प्रयुक्त हुआ है। पाणहाओ य छत्तं च, णालीयं वालवीयणं । परकिरियं अन्नमन्नं च, तं विजं परिजाणिया ॥१८॥ छाया - उपानही च छत्रञ्च, नालिकं बालव्यजनम् । परिक्रियाञ्चाऽन्योऽन्यं, तद्विद्वान् परिजानीयात् ॥ अनुवाद - उपानह-जूते खडाऊ पहनना, छत्र-छाता रखना, नालिक-द्युत क्रीड़ा करना, वाल व्यजनपंखे से हवा लेना हिंसादि मूलक परीक्रिया-पारस्परिक क्रिया इनको कर्म बंधा का हेतु जानकर विवेकशील मुनि इनका परित्याग करे ।। टीका - किञ्च उपानहौ-काष्ठपादुके च तथा आतपादिनिवारणाय छत्रं तथा 'नालिका' द्यूतक्रीड़ा विशेषस्तथा वालैः मयूरपिच्छैर्वा व्यजनकं तथा परेषां सम्बन्धिनी क्रियामन्योऽन्यं-परस्परतोऽन्यनिष्पाद्यामन्यः करोत्यपरनिष्पाद्यां चापर इति, चः समुच्चये, तदेतत्सर्वं विद्वान्' पण्डितः कर्मोपादानकारणत्वेन ज्ञपरिज्ञया परिज्ञाय प्रत्याख्यानपरिज्ञया परिहरेदिति ॥१८॥ (427)
