कुशील परिज्ञाध्ययनं
टीकार्थ यदि पानी कर्ममल - कर्मों के मैल को मिटा दे तो वह पुण्य कर्माणुओं का भी हरण करेगा।
यदि वह पुण्य को नहीं मिटायेगा तो वह पाप कर्मों को भी नहीं मिटायेगा । अतः पानी कर्म का हरण करता हैं, मिटाता है, यह कथन वक्ता की केवल अपनी इच्छा है । वास्तव में पानी में स्नान करने से कर्मों का मल दूर नहीं होता । यह सुनिश्चित है । ऐसा होते हुए भी स्मार्त मार्ग का अनुसरण करने वाले जो पुरुष वैसा करते है एक जन्मांध-जन्म से अंधा, दूसरे जन्मांध का अनुसरण करता हुआ कुमार्ग में विपरीत पथ में चला जाता है, अपने अभिप्सित स्थान में नहीं पहुंचता, उसी तरह जल शौचपरायण - जल द्वारा शुद्धि में विश्वास करने वाले - स्मार्त मार्ग का अनुसरण करने वाले अज्ञ, कर्त्तव्य अकर्त्तव्य के विवेक से रहित प्राणी जल स्नान द्वारा जल काय के जीवों का तथा तदाश्रित जीवों का व्यापादन- हनन करते हैं। वे जल क्रिया प्राण व्यपरोपण-प्राणनाश की संभावना से अवश्य ही हिंसक हैं ।
पावाई कम्पाइं पकुव्वतो हि, सिओदगं तू जइ तं हरिज्जा । सिज्झिंसु एगे दगसत्तघाती, मुसं वयंते जल सिद्धिमाहु ॥१७॥ प्रकुर्वतोहि, शीतोदकन्तु यदि तद्धरेत ।
सिद्धयेयुरेके दकसत्त्वधातिनो, मृषा वदन्तो जलसिद्धि माहुः ॥

अनुवाद पापकर्म करने वाले पापी का यदि जल पाप मिटा दे तो जल के जीवों का हनन करने : वाले मछुए भी मोक्ष प्राप्त कर लें। अतः जो जल से मुक्ति होना बतलाते हैं, वे मिथ्याभाषी हैं ।

टीका 'पापानि' पापोपादानभूतानि 'कर्माणि' प्राण्युपमर्दकारीणि कुर्वतोऽसुमतो यत्कर्मोपचीयते तत्कर्म यद्युदकमपहरेत् यद्येवं स्यात् तर्हि हिः यस्मादर्थे यस्मात्प्राण्युपमर्देन कर्मोपादीयते जलवगाहनाच्चापगच्छति तस्मादुदकसत्त्वघातिनः पापभूयिष्ठा अप्येवं सिद्धयेयुः न चैतद्दृष्टमिष्टं वा, तस्माद्ये जलावगाहनात्सिद्धिमाहुः

टीकार्थ जीव हिंसा आदि से पाप उत्पन्न होता है । वह अवश्य होता है । जीव हिंसादि करने वाले प्राणी के जो पाप कर्म का उपचय-संचय होता है, यदि जल उसका हरण कर ले, यदि ऐसा होता तो प्राणियों के व्यापादन से पाप होता है, तथा जल में अवगाहन करने से वह मिट जाता है, तो यह तथ्य सिद्ध होता है कि ऐसी स्थिति में जलचर प्राणियों का घात करने वाले पाप भूयिष्ठ - अत्यधिक पापी मछुए आदि भी मोक्ष प्राप्त कर लेते । पर ऐसा दृष्टिगोचर नहीं होता । यह इष्ट- अभिप्सित या उपयुक्त भी नहीं है । अतः जो जल में अवगाहन करने से मोक्ष प्राप्त होना प्रतिपादित करते है वे मृषावादी हैं ।
