श्री सूत्रकृताङ्ग सूत्रम् 'हेमवर्णों' निष्टप्तजाम्बूनदाभः तथा बहूनि चत्वारि नन्दनवनानि यस्य स बहुनन्दनवनः, तथाहि-भूमौ भद्रशाल वनं ततः पञ्च योजनशतान्यारुह्य मेखलायां नन्दं ततो द्विषष्टियोजनसहस्त्राणि पंचशताधिकान्यतिक्रम्य सौमनसं ततः षट्त्रिंशत्सहस्त्राण्यारुह्य शिखरे पण्डुकवनमिति, तदेवमसौ चतुर्ननन्दनवनाद्युपेतो विचित्रक्रीड़ास्थान समन्वितः, यस्मिन् महेन्द्रा अप्यागत्य त्रिदशालयाद्रमणीयतरगुणेन 'रति' रमणक्रीडां 'वेदयन्ति' अनुभवन्तीति ॥११॥ अपिच -
__टीकार्थ – वह मेरु पर्वत आकाश का स्पर्श करता हुआ-उससे संलग्न तथा पृथ्वी का अवगान करता हुआ-उसमें सम्प्रविष्ट रूप में विद्यमान है । वह उर्ध्वलोक, अधोलोक तथा तिर्यक्लोक का संस्पर्श किये हुये है । आदित्य-ग्रह नक्षत्र आदि उस पर्वत के पार्श्वभाग से-तट-तट भाग से भ्रमण करते हैं-घूमते हैं । वह परितप्त स्वर्ण के समान पीत वर्णयुक्त है-पीले रंग का है । उसके ऊपर चार नन्दन वने है । वे इस प्रकार है - (१) भूमिमय विभाग में भद्रशाल वन है । (२) उससे ऊपर पाँच सौ योजन आरोहण करने पर मेखलाप्रदेश मेंमध्य के ढलान में नन्दन वन है । (३) उससे ऊपर पाँच सौ बासठ हजार योजन आरोहण करने पर सौमनस वन है । (४) उससे ऊपर छतीस हजार योजन आरोहण करने पर शिखर-चोटी पर पण्डक वन है । इस प्रकार वह मेरू पर्वत चार नंदन वनों से युक्त विचित्र विविध क्रीड़ाओं का स्थल है । महेन्द्र गण स्वर्ण से भी अधिक रमणीय गुण युक्त होने के कारण उस पर्वत पर आकर रति-रमण क्रीड़ा का आनन्द लेते हैं ।
से पव्वए सहमहप्पगासे, विरायती कंचणमट्टवन्ने । अणुत्तरे गिरिसु य पव्वदुग्गे, गिरीवरे से जलिएव भोमे ॥१२॥ छाया - स पर्वतः शब्दमहाप्रकाशो, विराजते काञ्चनमृष्टवर्णः ।
अनुत्तरो गिरिषु च पर्वदुर्गो, गिरिवरोऽसौ ज्वलित इव भौमः ॥ अनुवाद - वह सुमेरु पर्वत संसार में अनेक नामों से विख्यात है, उसका रंग सोने के समान शुद्धउज्जवल है । वह जगत में समग्र पर्वतों से अनुत्तर-उन्नत है, दुर्गम है । वह मणियों-रत्नों और औषधियों से दैदिप्यमान होने के कारण प्रज्ज्वलित या ज्योर्तिमय भूखण्ड जैसा प्रतीत होता है ।
टीका - सः-मेर्वाख्योऽयं पर्वतो मन्दरो मेरुः सुदर्शनः सुरगिरिरित्येवमादिभिः शब्दैर्महान् प्रकाशः -प्रसिद्धिर्यस्य स शब्दमहाप्रकाशो 'विराजते' शोभते, काञ्चनस्येव 'मृष्टः' श्लक्ष्णः शुद्धो वा वर्णो यस्य स तथा, एवं न विद्यते उत्तरः-प्रधानो यस्यासावनुत्तरः, तथा गिरिषु च मध्ये पर्वभिः-मेखलादिभिर्दष्ट्रापर्वतैर्वा 'दुर्गा' विषमः सामान्यजन्तूनां दुरारोहो 'गिरिवरः' पर्वतप्रधानः तथाऽसौ मणिभिरौषधूिमिश्च देदीप्यमानतया 'भौम इव' भूदेश इव ज्वलित इति ॥१२॥ किञ्च -
टीकार्थ - वह सुमेरु पर्वत, मन्दर, मेरु, सुदर्शन एवं सुरगिरि इत्यादि अनेक नामों से प्रसिद्धि युक्त है-विख्यात है । उसका वर्ण-रंग सोने की तरह श्लक्ष्ण चिकना अथवा शुद्ध-स्वच्छ है । जगत में इससे बढ़कर दूसरा कोई पर्वत नहीं है । वह मेखला आदि से-अपने ढलाव चढ़ाव आदि के तथा उपपर्वतों के कारण दुर्गम है । उस पर सामान्य प्राणियों का चढ़ पाना बड़ा कठिन है । वह श्रेष्ठ पर्वत मणियों-रत्नों और औषधियों से दैदिप्यमान होने के कारण प्रज्ज्वलित या ज्योतिर्मय भूखण्ड जैसा प्रतीत होता है ।
