नरकविभक्ति अध्ययन स्मारणेन तादृग्विधमेव दु:खमुत्पाद्यते, इतिकृत्वा सुष्ठूच्यते यथा वृत्तं कर्म तादृग्भूत एव तेषां तत्कर्मविपाकापादितो भार इति ॥२६॥ किञ्चान्यत् -
___टीकार्थ - इस मनुष्य जीवन में जो पुरुष दूसरे को वंचित करने में-धोखा देने में प्रवृत्त रहता है वह अपने आपको ही वंचित करता है-धोखा देता है । वह थोड़े से नगण्य सुख के लालच से अन्य प्राणियों की हिंसा करता हुआ अपनी आत्मा को वंचित करता है । उसके परिणामस्वरूप वह अनेकानेक भव करता हुआ सैकड़ों हजारों बार मछली पकड़ने वाले मल्लाह तथा पशु वध करने वाले व्याघ्र-शिकारी आदि नीच जातियों में जन्म लेता है । उन जन्मों में वह सांसारिक भोग विषयों में लोलुप रहता है । पुण्य कार्यों के विपरीत आचरण करता है । फलतः वह बड़े घोर और अत्यन्त भयपुर नरक में जाता है । नरक में अवस्थित कर्मा प्राणी आपस में एक दूसरे के लिए दुःख पैदा करते हये दीर्घकाल तक निवास करते हैं ।
सूत्रकार इसका कारण प्रकट करते हुये कहते हैं कि जिस जीव ने पूर्वजन्म में जैसे अध्यवसाय से परिणाम में जघन्य, घृणास्पद, तथा जघन्यतर उससे भी अधिक घृणास्पद कर्म किये हैं, उस जीव को इसी तरह की वेदना-पीड़ा प्राप्त होती है । वह वेदना स्वतः अपने आप भी होती है । परतः-दूसरों के द्वारा भी होती है तथा स्वतः एवं परतः दोनों प्रकार से भी होती है । जो अपने पहले के जन्म में माँस भक्षी थे, उनको उनका ही माँस अग्नि में पकाकर खिलाया जाता है । जो. पूर्वजन्म में माँस रस का पान करते थे, उनको उनका ही रक्त और मवाद पिलाया जाता है तथा गलाया हुआ सीसा भी पिलाया जाता है । पूर्व जन्म के मत्स्य घातीमछलियाँ मारने वाले और लुब्धक-पशुओं का शिकार करने वाले जैसे मछली और हिरण आदि को मारते काटते थे उसी प्रकार वे मारे जाते हैं, काटे जाते हैं । जो असत्य भाषण करते थे, उन्हें वह याद कराकर उनकी जिह्वाएं काट ली जाती हैं । जो पहले के जन्म में दूसरों के धन का अपहरण करते थे, उनके अंग-उपांग काट लिए जाते हैं । जो परस्त्री गामी होते थे, उनके अण्डकोष काट लिए जाते हैं तथा उन्हें शाल मलिनि-घोर कंटकाकीर्ण वृक्ष का आलिंगन कराया जाता है । इसी प्रकार जो महा आरंभि, महापरिग्रही, क्रोधी, अभिमानी तथा मायावी थे, उनको वह सब याद कराते हुये उसी प्रकार की यातनायें दी जाती हैं । इसलिए यह ठीक ही कहा है कि जिसने जैसा कर्म किया है उसको वैसा ही फल भोगना पड़ता है।
समजिणित्ता कलुसंअणज्जा, इलेहि कंतेहि य विप्पहूणा । ते दुब्भिगंधे कसिणे य फासे, कम्मोवगा कुणिमे आवसंति ॥२७॥त्तिबेमि॥ छाया - समा कलुषमना- इष्टैः कान्तैश्च विप्रहीनाः ।
ते दुरभिगन्धे कृत्स्नेऽस्पर्शे कर्मोपगता कुणिमे आवसन्तीति ब्रवीमि ॥ अनुवाद - अनार्य जन पापों का उपार्जन कर उनके फलस्वरूप नरक में निवास करते हैं जो इष्टअभिप्सित एवं प्रिय पदार्थों से रहित हैं, तथा दुर्गन्ध मय अशुभ स्पर्शयुक्त, माँस एवं रक्त आदि से पूर्ण हैं।
___टीका - अनार्या अनार्य कर्मकारित्वाद्धिंसानृतस्तेयादिभिराश्रवद्वारैः 'कलुषं' पापं 'समय॑' अशुभकर्मोपचयं कृत्वा 'ते' क्रूरकर्माणो 'दुरभिगन्धे' आवसन्तीति संकङ्क, किम्भूताः ? - "इष्टै" शब्दाभिर्विषयैः 'कमनीयैः' कान्तैर्विविधं प्रकर्षेण हीना विप्रमुक्ता नरके वसन्ति, यदिवा-तदर्थं कलुष समर्जयन्ति तैर्मातापुत्र
