नरक में
नरकपालों द्वारा हन्यमान मारे जाते हुए वे नारकीय जीव उस नरक से निकलकर ऐसे कूदकर गिर जाते हैं, जो मल और मूत्र से भरा हुआ है । वहाँ वे मल एवं मूत्र का भक्षण करते हुए दीर्घ काल पर्यन्त निवास करते हैं । उन्हें कीड़े काटते रहते हैं ।
टीका 'ते' वराका नारका 'हन्यमाना: ' ताड्यमाना नरकपालेभ्यो नष्टाअन्यस्मिन् घोरतरे 'नरके' नरकैकदेशे 'पतन्ति' गच्छन्ति नरके ? ' पूर्णे' भृते दुष्टं रूपं यस्य तद्दूरूपं विष्ठासृग्मांसादिकल्मलं तस्य भृते तथा' महाभितापे' अतिसन्तापोपेते'ते'’नारकाः स्वकर्मावबद्धा:' तत्र' एवम्भूते नरके' दुरुपभक्षिणः 'अशुच्यादिभक्षकाः प्रभूतं कालं यावत्तिष्ठन्ति, तथा 'कृमिभिः' नरक पालापादितै परस्परकृतैश्च 'स्वकर्मोपगता:' स्वकर्म ढौकिता: ' तुद्यन्ते' व्यथ्यन्ते इति । तथा चागमः - छट्ठी सत्तमासु णं पुढवीसु नेरइया पहू महंताईं लोहिकुंथुरूवाई विउव्वित्ता अन्नमन्नस्स कार्यं समतुरंगेमाणा अणुधायमाणा अणुधायमाणा चिट्ठति ॥२०॥ किञ्चान्यत्
टीकार्थ वे अभागे नारकीय प्राणी नरकपालों द्वारा हन्यमान - ताड्यमान मारे पीटे जाते हुए दूसरे अत्यन्त घोर नरक में- नरक के एक भाग में गिर जाते हैं, चले जाते हैं। वह नरक कैसा है? वह मल, रूधिर, मांस आदि अपवित्र, गन्दे पदार्थों से परिपूर्ण है, तथा अत्यन्त अभिताप से युक्त है । अपने कर्म के जाल में परिबद्ध वे नारकीय प्राणी ऐसे नरक में अशुचि आदि पदार्थों का भक्षण करते हुए दीर्घकाल तक रहते हैं ।
नरक पालों द्वारा उत्पादित कीडों से तथा परस्पर एक दूसरे के द्वारा प्रेरित कीड़ों से अपने कर्मों के फलस्वरूप काटे जाते हैं । इस सम्बन्ध में आगम में उल्लेख है कि छठी तथा सातवीं नरक भूमि में नारक एक बहुत बड़े खूनी कुन्थु संज्ञक कीड़े का रूप बनकर एक दूसरे के शरीर को काटते हुए बड़ी पीड़ा करते 1 ❀❀
सया कसिणं पुण घम्मठाणं, गाढोवणीयं अतिदुक्खधम्मं । अंदूसु पक्खिप्प विहत्तु देहं वेहेण सीसं सेऽभितावयंति ॥२१॥

सदा कृत्सनं पुनर्धर्मस्थानं, गाढोपनीतमतिदुःखधर्मम् । अन्दूषु प्रक्षिप्य विहृत्य देहं वेधेन शीर्षं तस्याभि तापयन्ति ॥
अनुवाद नारकीय प्राणियों के आवास का स्थान सदा सर्वथा उष्ण रहता है । वह उनको निधत्त निकाचित आदि स्वसंचित कर्मों के कारण प्राप्त हुआ है । स्वभावतः ही वह स्थान अत्यधिक दुखप्रद है। नरकपाल वहाँ नारकीय जीवों के शरीर को तोड़ मरोड़ तथा उसे बेड़ी बन्धन आदि में डालकर उनके मस्तक में छेदकर उनको यातना देते हैं ।
टीका - 'सदा' सर्वकालं ' कृत्स्नं' संपूर्णं पुनः तत्र नरके 'धर्मप्रधानं' उष्णप्रधानं स्थितिः स्थानं नारकाणां भवति, तत्रहि प्रलयातिरिक्ताग्निना वातादीनामत्यन्तोष्णरूपत्वात्, तच्च दृढै :- निधत्तनिकाचितावस्थैः कर्मभिर्नारकाणाम् 'उपनीतं ' ढौकितं, पुनरपि विशिनष्टि अतीव दुःखम् - असातावेदनीयं धर्मः स्वभावो यस्य तत्तथा तस्मिंश्चैवंविधे स्थाने स्थितोऽसुमान्' अन्दूषु' निगडेषु देहं विहत्य प्रक्षिप्य च तथा शिरश्च' से ' तस्य नारकस्य'वेधेन 'रन्ध्रोत्पादनेनाभितापयन्ति कीलकैश्च सर्वाण्यप्यङ्गानि वितत्य चर्मवत् कीलयन्ति इति ॥ २१॥ अपिच
