श्री सूत्रकृताङ्ग सूत्रम् छाया - न तासु चक्षुः संदध्यात् नाऽपि च साहसं समभिजानीयात् ।
न सहितोऽपि विहरेदेवमात्मा सुरक्षितो भवति ॥ __ अनुवाद - जैसा पहले उल्लेख हुआ है साधु स्त्रियों पर अपनी नजर न डाले । उन द्वारा अभ्यर्थित दुष्कर्म करने का साहस न करे तथा उनके साथ गाँव आदि में विहार न करे । इस प्रकार करते हुए साधु की आत्मा सुरक्षित रहती है, पापों से बची रहती है।
टीका - 'नो' नैव 'तासु' शयनासनोपनिमन्त्रणपाशावपाशिकासु स्त्रीषु 'चक्षुः' नेत्रं 'सन्दध्यात्' सन्धयेद्वा न तदृष्टौ स्वदृष्टिं निवेशयेत्, सति च प्रयोजने ईषदवज्ञया निरीक्षेत, तथा चोक्तम् -
"कार्येऽपीषन्मतिमान्निरीक्षते योषिदङ्गमस्थिरया अस्निग्धया दृशाऽवज्ञ या ह्यकुपितोऽपि कुपित इव॥१॥
तथा नापिच साहसम्-अकार्यकरणंतत्प्रार्थनया समनुजानीयात्' प्रतिपद्येत्,तथा ह्यतिसाहसमेतत्सङ्ग्रामावतरण वद्यन्नरकपातादिविपाकवेदिनोऽपि साधोर्योषिदासञ्जनमिति, तथा नैव स्त्रीभिः सार्धं ग्रामादौ 'विहरेत्' गच्छेत्, अपिशब्दात् न तानिः सार्धं विविक्तासनो भवेत्, ततो महापापस्थानमेतत् यतीनां यत् स्त्रीभिः सहसाङ्गत्यमिति, तथा चोक्तम् -
"मात्रा स्वस्त्रा दुहित्रा वा, न विविक्तासनो भवेत् । बलवानिन्द्रियग्रामः, पण्डितोऽप्यत्र मुह्यति ॥१॥"
एवमनेन स्त्रीसङ्गवर्जनेनात्मा समस्तापायस्थानेभ्यो रक्षितो भवति, यतः-सर्वावा यानां स्त्रीसम्बन्धः कारणम् अतः स्वहितार्थी तत्सङ्गं दूरतः परिहरेदिति ॥५॥ कथं चैताः पाशा इव पाशिका इत्याह -
टीकार्थ - स्त्रियाँ साधु को फाँसने के लिए शय्या-आसन आदि स्वीकार करने का उससे अनुरोध करती हैं । उसका यह अनुरोध साधु को फँसाने का जाल है । ऐसी स्त्रियों पर साधु अपनी नजर न डालें। उनकी नजर से अपनी नजर न मिलाये । यदि आवश्यकतावश उनकी ओर देखना पड़े तो अवज्ञापूर्ण दृष्टि से देखे । कहा है विवेकशील पुरुष स्त्री से काम पड़ने पर उसके देह पर स्नेह रहित-तटस्थ दृष्टि से देखे भी, क्रोध न होने पर भी वह ऐसा लगे मानो क्रोधित हो । स्त्री के अनुरोध पर साधु उसके साथ कुत्सित कृत्य करना अंगीकार न करे । जीवन संग्राम में उतरे, नर्क रूपी विपाक-फल के ज्ञाता साधु का स्त्री से संसर्ग करना बड़ा दुस्साहस.पूर्ण-अनुचित कार्य है । साधु गाँव आदि में स्त्रियों के साथ विहार न करे । यहाँ 'अपि' शब्द का जो प्रयोग आया है वह स्त्रियों के साथ एकान्त में न बैठने का सूचक है । स्त्रियों की संगति करना उनके सम्पर्क में रहना साधु के लिए अत्यन्त पाप जनक है । कहा गया है अपनी माता, बहिन या अपनी बेटी के साथ भी एकान्त स्थान में नहीं बैठना चाहिए क्योंकि यह इन्द्रिय ग्राम-इन्द्रियों का समूह या इन्द्रियां बड़ी शक्तिशाली है । पण्डित-ज्ञानी भी उसके वश में होकर विमोहित हो जाता है । इस प्रकार स्त्रियों के संगसंसर्ग का वर्जन करने से आत्मा सभी अपाप स्थानों से-विनाश के हेतु से बच जाती है क्योंकि सब प्रकार उपायों का कारण स्त्रियों के साथ संबंध जोड़ना ही है । इसलिए स्वहितार्थी-आत्मा का कल्याण चाहने वाला पुरुष दूर से ही उसके संग का त्याग करे ।
आमंतिय उस्सविया भिक्खं आयसा निमंतंति । एताणि चेव से जाणे, सदाणि विरूवरूवाणि ॥६॥
