वैतालिय अध्ययनं । एवं मत्ता महं तरं धम्ममिणं सहिया वहूजणा ।
गुरुणो छंदाणुवत्तगा. विरया तिन्न महोघ माहियं ॥३२॥त्तिबेमि।। छाया - एवं मत्वा महदन्तरं धर्ममेनं सहिताः वहवो जनाः ।
गुरोश्छन्दानुवर्तकाः विरता स्तीर्णाः महोघ माख्यातम् ॥इति ब्रवीमि।। अनुवाद - आत्मकल्याण की प्राप्ति बहुत दुष्कर है । इस संदर्भ में अर्हत-तीर्थंकर द्वारा प्ररूपित धर्म सब धर्मों में उत्तम है-इससे आत्महित की प्राप्ति सुकर है, यह जानकर गुरु की आज्ञा का अनुवर्तन करने वाले, उन द्वारा उपदिष्ट पथ पर चलने वाले, सांसारिक भोगों एवं वासनाओं से विरत रहने वाले सत्पुरुषों ने इस संसार सागर को पार किया है । ऐसा मैं कहता हूँ ।
टीका - पुनरप्युपदेशान्तर मधिकृत्याह - एवम् उक्तरीत्या आत्महित्तं सुदुर्लभं मत्वा ज्ञात्वा धर्माणाञ्च महदन्तरं धर्मविशेष कर्मणो वा विवरं ज्ञात्वा यदि वा 'महंतरं' ति, मनुष्यार्यक्षेत्रादिकमवसरं सदनुष्ठानस्य ज्ञात्वा एनं जैनं धर्मं श्रुतचारित्रात्मकं सह हितेन वर्तन्त इति सहिताः ज्ञानादियुक्ता वहवो जनाः लघु कर्माणः समाश्रिताः सन्तो गुरुराचार्यादेस्तीर्थङ्करस्य वा छन्दानुवर्तकास्त दुक्तमार्गानुष्टायिनो विरताः पापेभ्यः कर्मभ्यः सन्तस्तीर्णाः महौधमपारं संसारसागरमेव माख्यातं मया मवता मपरैश्च तीर्थकृद्भिरन्येषाम् इति शब्दः परिसमाप्त्यर्थं व्रवीमीतिपूर्ववत् ॥३२॥
वैतालीयस्य द्वितीयोद्देशकः समाप्तः । टीकार्थ - आगमकार पुनः दूसरे प्रकार से उपदेश देते हुए कहते हैं -
जैसा पहले वर्णित हुआ है, आत्महित-आत्मा का कल्याण साधना बहुत कठिन है । यह जानकर जिन्होंने सब धर्मों के पारस्परिक अन्तर को-भेद को समझते हुए उत्तम श्रेयस्कर धर्म को आत्मसात् किया अथवा कर्मों के अन्तर को जानकर-विविध कर्मों की विविध फल प्रदत्ता को समझकर श्रेष्ठ आचरण योग्य सत्पुरुष, आर्य क्षेत्र जैसे अनुकूल अवसरों को समझकर श्रुत चारित्र रूप, सर्वज्ञ प्रतिपादित धर्म को स्वीकार किया । ज्ञानादिज्ञान, आचार की साधना द्वारा अपने कर्मों को हल्का किया । अपने गुरु, आचार्य, तीर्थंकरों द्वारा बताए हुए पथ का अनुसरण करते हुए पाप कर्मों की निवृत्ति की, ऐसे पुरुषों ने इस अपार संसार सागर को तीर्ण कियापार किया । यह मैंने आप लोगों को कहा है। अन्य तीर्थंकरों ने भी ऐसा कहा है । यहां 'इति' शब्द समाप्ति के अर्थ में है । 'ब्रवीमि'-बोलता हूँ । यह पहले की तरह है वैसे ही इसे योजित कर लेना चाहिये ।
