अर्थ —नटकथा भटकथा मल्लकथा, कपटके भेषसे जीनेवाले व्याघ और ज्वारी इनकी कथा, हिंसामें रत रहनेवालों की कथा, वांसपर चढनेवाले नटों की कथा - ये सब लौकिकी कथा ( विकथा ) हैं इनमें वैरागी मुनिराज रागभाव नहीं करते ।। ८५६ ॥ विकहाविसोत्तियाणं खणमवि हिदएण ते ण चिंतंति । धम्मे लद्धमदीया विकहा तिविहेण वज्जंति ॥ ८५७ ॥ विकथाविश्रुतीन् क्षणमपि हृदयेन ते न चिंतयंति । धर्मे लब्धमतयः विकथाः त्रिविधेन वर्जयंति ॥ ८५७ ॥ अर्थ - स्त्रीकथा आदि विकथा और मिथ्याशास्त्र इनको वे मुनि मनसे भी चितवन नहीं करते । धर्ममें प्राप्त बुद्धिवाले मुनि विकथाको मनवचनकायसे छोड़ देते हैं ॥ ८५७ ॥ कुक्कुय कंदप्पाइय हास उल्लावणं च खेडं च । मददुष्पहत्थवहिं ण करेंति मुणी ण कारेंति ।। ८५८ ॥ कौत्कुच्यं कंदर्पायितं हास्यं उल्लापनं च खेडं च । मददर्पहस्तताड़नं न कुर्वति मुनयः न कारयति ॥ ८५८ ॥ अर्थ – हृदय कंठसे अप्रगट शब्दका करना, कामके उपजानेवाले हास्यमिले वचन, हास्यवचन, अनेकचतुराई सहित मीठे वचन, परको ठगनेरूप वचन, मदके गर्वसे हाथका ताड़नाइनको मुनिराज न तो करते हैं और न दूसरेसे कराते हैं ।। ८५८ ॥ ते होंति णिव्वियारा थिमिदमदी पदिट्टिदा जहा उदधी । णियमेसु दढव्वदिणो पारत्तविमग्गया समणा ॥ ८५९॥
ते भवंति निर्विकाराः स्तिमितमतयः प्रतिष्ठिताः यथा उदधिः । नियमेषु दृढव्रतिनः पारत्र्यविमार्गकाः श्रमणाः ।। ८५९ ।।
