(श्रावक धर्म विधि प्रकरण)
गुरुविणओ तह काले, नियए चिइवंदणाइकरणं च। उचियासण जुत्तसरो, सज्झाए सययमुवओगो॥ १० ॥
१०. गुरु अर्थात्धर्माचार्य का विनय करना तथा नियतकाल (त्रिकाल) में चैत्यवन्दन आदिकरणीय अनुष्ठान को करना, धर्म - श्रवणादि कार्यो में उचित आसन पर बैठना, युक्त (मध्यम) स्वर से निरन्तर उपयोग (विवेक) पूर्वक स्वाध्याय करना-ये उपासना के पाँच लक्षण हैं।
10. Reverence of the guru (preceptor or religious teacher) (1); paying homage at the temple (and doing other prescribed daily rituals) at proper hours (three times everyday) and sitting properly at a proper place (during religious discourse) (2); and attentively reading in normal voice (3); these are the attributes of worship the religious texts.
सव्वजणवल्लहतं, अगरहियं कम्म वीरया वसणे। जहसत्ती चागतवा, सुलदलक्खत्तणं धम्मे ॥ ११ ॥
११. (सम्यक् व्यवहार / आचरण से) समस्त जनों का वल्लभ / प्रिय बनना, (जीविकोपार्जन में) अनिंदित कर्म करना,
आपदा में वीरता (अदैन्य भाव) रखना, यथाशक्ति त्याग और तप करना सुलब्ध धर्म में लक्ष्य रखना – ये पाँच सद् गृहस्थ के लक्षण हैं।
11. To be adored by all (as a result of good behaviour and proper conduct) (1); to do work that is not censured by society (for livelihood) (2); to remain brave (unabashed) in face of distress (3); to indulge in charity and austerity to the best of one's capacity (4); and to make welfare of others the goal of religious activities (5); (these are the other five attributes of the grihastha dharm).
