गुरुमूले सुयधम्मो, वज्जितु तओ सम्मं वज्जेइ इमे अईयारे

७९. गुरु अर्थात् आचार्य आदि सद्गुरु के समक्ष श्रुतधर्म अर्थात् आगमोक्त अणुव्रतादि का श्रवण कर संविग्न अर्थात् मोक्ष सुखाभिलाषी श्रावक निश्चित समय के लिए अथवा जीवनपर्यन्त के लिए प्राणी वध का सम्यक् प्रकार से त्याग करे और निम्न अतिचारों अर्थात् त्याग को मलिन करने वाले हेतुओं का मनन करे ।

79. A shravak desirous of the bliss of liberation should listen to the preaching of the acharya or other ascetic about the minor vows, etc. as mentioned in the Agams. And then he should resolve to abstain properly and sincerely from the act of killing for a specific period or for whole life. He should also avoid the following transgressions (atichar - acts that tarnish or dilute this abstinence).
अइभारं भत्तपाणवोच्छेयं । गोमणुयाईण नो कुज्जा ॥ ८० ||
८०. प्रथम प्राणातिपात विरमण के पाँच अतिचार हैं १. गाय, अश्व आदि चतुष्पद, मनुष्यादि द्विपदों को रस्सी आदि से कसकर बाँधना, २. वध अर्थात् चाबुक आदि से पीटना, ३. छविच्छेद अर्थात् अंगच्छेद करना, ४ . अत्यधिक भार लादना और ५. समय पर भोजन - पान आदि से वंचित रखना - इन अतिचारों का क्रोधादि दूषित मन से सेवन न करे ।

80. The five transgressions of the first minor vow, to abstain from killing beings : 1.To avoid to tie up with rope, etc.; 2. beat, whip, etc.; 3. disfigure, amputate, etc.; 4. overload, etc.; and 5. deprive of food, water, etc. animals and human beings or bipeds, quadrupeds etc. These transgressions should never be done with bad intention, such as anger, etc.
