76. When these 49 parameters are multiplied by three of time (past, present, and future) the total number of alternatives becomes 147. As it is beyond the capacity of those living in this continent (Bharat Khand) three of these alternatives have been disallowed. Therefore, for all practical purposes there are only 144 alternatives.
संभवमहिगिच्चेयं, नियविसओ भरह आरियं खंडं । तस्स बहिं सव्ववया, साहुसरिच्छा सविगिहीणं ॥ ७७ ॥
७७. सम्भावित विकल्पों या भंगों की अपेक्षा से यहाँ ऐसा कहा गया है। अथवा भरत क्षेत्र के आर्य खण्ड को लक्ष्य में रखकर ऐसा कहा गया है। उस भरत क्षेत्र के बाहर अन्य क्षेत्रों में तो श्रावकों के (पूर्वोक्त) सर्वव्रत साधु के समान ही त्रिविधत्रिविध रूप से होते हैं।
..77. The said statement is in context of the probabilities of alternatives. This is with reference to Bharat area or Aryavarta. For all other areas (Mahavideh, etc.) all the vows for householders are same as those for ascetics, i.e. based on combinations of three means and three methods.
थूलगपाणवहस्सा, विरई दुविहो य सो वहो होइ।। संकप्पारंभेहिं, वज्जइ संकप्पओ विहिणा ॥ ८ ॥
७८. स्थूल प्राणीवध विरति के अन्तर्गत वध दो प्रकार का होता है - संकल्पजनित और आरम्भजनित । श्रावक संकल्पजनित हिंसा का विधिपूर्वकं त्याग करे।
____78. Abstaining from killing of gross beings is of two types — intentional or as a consequence of some activity. A shravak should abstain from indulging in intentional killing according to the laid down procedure.
