હિંદુઓનું સમાજÜનારાય
If may be said that about 50% of the college women remain unmarried. It is apparently true that women of superior intelligence and force of character are those, who, whether college women or not, are apt to be selected for spinsterhood. Many of the women who are prone to sacri fice motherhood to career are just the ones upon whom the obligation of motherhood should rest greatest weight It may seriously be doubted if the growing independence of women, despite its many advantages, has proven unmixed blessing. Thus far it has worked to deteriorate the race in the interest of social advancement, a process which is bound to be disastrous in long run.

Holmes. pp. 282. આ વિષયને જે જે વિદ્વાનાએ અભ્યાસ કર્યાં છે. તેમણે આવા જ મતા આપેલા છે. આપણી તરફના સમાજ સુધારકાએ પણ આ વિષયના જરૂર અભ્યાસ કરવા જોઇએ, એમ અમે માનીએ છીએ. અત્યાર સુધી સામાન્ય રીતે વિવાહના વયની વૃદ્ધિનું અને સ્ત્રી શિક્ષણનું જગતના કાઈ પણ સમાજમાં શું પરિણામ થાય છે તેને વિચાર ચેા. હવે માનવ-સમાજોના એક ધટક તરીકે હિંદુસમાજને વિચાર કરીએ,
પ્રથમ આપણે એ ધ્યાનમાં રાખવું જોઇએ કે હિંદુસમાજરચના જાતિ નિબદ્ધ છે, અને તેમાં અનુવ’શના સર્વાં નિયમાના વિચાર થએલા છે. અમે પાછળ બતાવ્યું જ છે કે જગતની ધક્કામુક્કીમાં સમાજને ટકાવી રાખવા હેાય તે સમાજની રચના જાતિબદ્ધ હાવી જોઇએ. સર્વ જગતમાં સમૂહ પડવાની પ્રવૃત્તિ દેખાઇ આવે
