This inoident is narrated in the Periya-purāņam as having occurred in Tiruvālār where to this day are to be seen in stone the chariot, the dead calf, and the king's son thrown underneath the chariot. Beginning :
பாரூர் பசுப்பழிக்குப் பாலன் றனைக்கிடத்தித் தேரூர்ந்த சோழன் றிருக்கதைக்கு- நீரூர்ந்த தும்பைச் சடைமுடியார் தோகையுமை யாள்ப(யான்ற](யந்த) கம்பக் கடக்களிறே காப்பு.
சூரியவங்கிசதிலே தோன் றப்பட்ட ராசவங்கி(ஷ)(ச)த்திலே சோழன் மரபிலே, உத்துங்க சோழனென்றும், குலோத்துங்க சோழ னென்றும், கரிகாலச்சோழனென்றும், ரா 3சந்திரச்சோழனென்றும், இப்படித்தோன்றப்பட்ட நள்ளிகடை கிள்ளிமுதல் நாற்பத்தெண்ணாயி ரம் சோழன்பரப்பிலே ஒரு ராசாவானவன். End :
ஈசு[u](வ)ரனும் ராசாவைப்பா(ர்)த்து 'நமக்குச் சந்தோஷமாச்சுது பசுவாகவந்தது நாமாகவும் சேங்க(ண்ணா ](ன்றா)கவந்தது எமனாகவும் இப்படி உன்னுடைய அன்பு சோதிக்க வந்தோம். இனிமேல் நீரும் உம் முடைய தேவியும் குமாரனும் மந்திரியும் நீங்கள் நாலு பேரும் கயிலா சமேவாருங்கோள்' என்று அனுக்கிரகம்பண்ணிப் புஷ்பவிமானத்தின் றிக் கயிலாசமே எழுந்தருளினார் (எ - று). இதிலுள்ள கதை, பெரிய புராணத்திலுள்ள திருவாரூர்ச சிறப்பு என்னும் பகுதியில் சுருக்கமாக அமைந்துள்ளது. இந்தப் பிரதியில் இக்கதை பூர்த்தியாக இருக்கிறது.
