It seems that this is not the way in which this letter is written in Jaina MSS. Some write it as indicated in the 3rd Kiraņāvali (p. 13, 1.4). Some believe that in the Jaina script there is no letter corresponding to a. In Jaina MSS. each of these is also written as shown in Appendix II, pp. 5, 5 and 4 respectively.
