I have seen that he always made the direct approach to the concerned secretaries of the Bihar Government to get his things done quickly, as the official correspondences made little effect on them. That to why he was loved and respected by all as he made a great impact on them by his personality. Dr. Jain at His Farewell
After handing over the charge of his grown up child, the Vaishali Research Institute to his successor, Dr. Jain came to his family of students in July 1961 at the hall of the Institute with a heavy heart. I never saw him in such a mood. In reply to our farewell address he rose slowly and spoke that, 'My boys, a large tree should go away, so that the small trees may grow up luxuriously with the new sun-shine. You are giving me farewell, that is more touching. I have made one scholar here (pointing his figure to me), but I shall not be able to see that he will take the Ph. D. degree in the convocation before my eyes.' Immediately he burst into tears and sat down on his chair with a surcharged living emotions for his dear pupils. We also wept for him-a father-like Guru. Again my revered Guru lifted me up in 1963, from the intellectual stagnant condition of life at Burdwan Raj College, West Bengal, by making arrangements for the award of Senior Research Fellowship of the U.G.C. to carry on my Post-Doctorate research work at Jabalpur University under his guidance. He was very glad to receive me there on the 9th November 1963. Sri V.P. Jain, his another pupil, also joined this University as Lecturer in Pali and Prakrit. We were very happy to join the family of our Guru gain at Jabalpur. We know how he protected us like a big intellectual bird with his spreadout wings of defence so that no mishaps could happen to our life in any form-physical, mental and intellectual. I completed my D. Litt. Thesis 'Doctrine of Matter in Jainism' and Sri V.P. Jain his Ph. D. thesis Jambu-Swami Cariu' and obtained our respective degrees in the convocation of Jabalpur University in February 1968 before his eyes.
