________________ 38 स्वर्ण-जयन्ती गौरव-ग्रन्थ Whoever fell sick, whether his students or the ward servant, he made proper arrangements for their medical treatment in the local Hospital by requesting its superintendent for admission there is this regard. Dr. Jain participated in our every feast and function as a father of a small family on invitation. He also invited us now and then for enjoying meals together with him. He was very glad of find us living like brothers without distinction of caste and creed, being free from communalism and provincialism. He once took all of us to Bhainsa Loton, a place situated on the bank of the river Gandak which flows between India and Nepal for excursion on the invitation of his friend Sri Chaudhary, a manager of a local Sugar Mill and showed the working system of the Sugar Mills. Dr. Jain as a Social Teacher & Guide Every year Dr. Jain used to take us to Vaishali on the occasion of Lord Mahaveera's birth anniversary and performed himself puja, together with otherjains and his students. He equally paid his obeisance to Lord Siva and Lord Buddha. In the last part of his life he once told me that he was fully convinced by all literary evidences that Lord Siva and Lord Rishabhadeva were one and the same divine personality. He firmly believed that Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism are the three currents of one great Indian culture. Once he expressed this view in his lecture at the local Sri Ramakrishna Sevashram on the occasion of Sri Ramakrishna anniversary that Sri Ramakrishna's Samadhi Mudra (right hand up and left hand touching his heart) indicated that Jivatma and Paramatma were one at the last stage of spiritual development, and the infinite supreme Soul manifested itself in and through the finite Soul. The self and the universe were within oneself. 'So look inside, be introvert.' He spoke about Swami Vivekanand that he was ready to face the whole world with his spiritual power and remove animality from the human mind and to bring divine light to them. All the Indian saints respected one cultural heritage from the time immemorial. His liberal views on socio-religious matters were reflected in his dayto-day life.
