My Revered Guru : Dr. Jain

It is a very difficult task for me to write something about the life of revered Guru, late Dr. Hiralal Jain, Ex-Director of Vaishali Research Institute and Ex-Prof. of Sanskrit, Pali and Prakrit, University of Jabalpur, for the self within his mortal body was higher and nobler than all his noble works. It was unfathomable and beyond my comprehension with my little knowledge. So I make an attempt to present here a glimpse of his life as he appeared to me as my Pujya Guru in the course of my life as his dear pupil from the 15th March 1957 to the 13th March 1973.
The news of his sudden departure from this mortal world on the 13th March 1973, come to me as a rude shock, leaving me behind as a lonely traveller in the up and down journey of my life. Only he could say what spiritual relation I had with him. Now all is over.
I recall the day when I was gropping in the darkness at Vishwa Bharati University (Shantiniketan) as a Research Scholar in 1957 without a Research Guide to work out my Ph. D. thesis on the Bhagavati Sutra, after the sudden death of my first revered Guru, late Dr. Prabodh Chandra Bagchi, Ex-vice-chancellor of Vishwa Barti University in 1956 who saved me from that stranded condition. It was Dr. Hiralal Jain, the then Director of Vaishali Research Institute of Prakrit, Jainology and Ahimsa, Muzaffarpur, Bihar, who lifted me up by welcoming there with a beacon light which was rich in meaning and hope for my future life.
