It has given me much pleasure to go through the book SERI JAIN SIDDHANTA BOL-SANGRAH' Part I compiled by Sri Bhairodan Sethia of Bikaner. Sothiaji is a veteran student of Jainism being a practical follower of the teachings of Lord Mahavira. He is, thus, fully competent for the task le has undertaken. The book which is a mine of information u bout Jain doctrines is planned on the model of the Thananga Sutral whorein the fundamental categories are grouped Logether according to the number of their sub-divisions. Consequently the Thananga Sutra is the chief source for the greater part of the book. The present part covers categories and principles comprising one to five sub-divisions. It consists of 423 Bols or formulas.
The Bol-vichar or exposition of these formulas forms the bed rock of the Jain Siddhanta on which alone a sure strnetrire of Jain studios can be built. For this reason the book will prove highly useful to students of Jain philosophy. Sethiaji has rendered great service to the cause of Jainism by writing this book and has thereby put Jain scholars under a deep debt of gratitude.
The subject-index attached to the volume has greatly onhanced its value.
I am eagerly awaiting for the other parts of the work.
