12. What is the nature of the *kṣaya* (destruction)? 13. Is it increasing or decreasing? It is decreasing by the *niyama* (rule). 14. The word *upayoga* (application) is explained. 15. One explanation is that it ascends the *kṣapaka* (destroyer) series by being applied through *niyama* and *śruta-jñāna* (scriptural knowledge). 16. Another explanation is that it ascends the *kṣapaka* series by being applied through *śruta-jñāna* (scriptural knowledge), or *mati-jñāna* (intellectual knowledge), or *caksu-darśana* (visual perception), or *acaksu-darśana* (non-visual perception). 17.
