## Chapter 123: Detailed Explanation of the Special Action of the Pacifier of Attachment to Conduct
**689**
**127.** After the destruction of the country, the mind performs the act of internalization (antarakaraṇa) in the thousands of states of the binding (sthitibandha).
**128.** This internalization is for the twelve passions (kṣayā) and the nine non-passionate karmas (nokṣayavedanīya). There is no internalization for any other karma.
**129.** The pacifier, which is ready to act, performs the internalization by establishing the first state (prathama sthiti) of both the karma that causes burning (sanjalaṇa kṣaya) and the karma that causes knowledge (veda kṣaya) for the duration of a moment (muhūrta).
**130.** From the first state, the states multiplied by the number (saṅkhyā) are taken as the series of qualities (guṇaśreṇī) for the purpose of internalization.
**131.** It internalizes the remaining eleven passions and eight non-passionate karmas, excluding the series of their arising (udaya-avali).
**132.** The internalization above is of the same state (sama sthiti), and the internalization below is of the different state (viṣama sthiti).
**133.** When the internalization is performed, the other binding (dvītiya bandha) is established, and the other state-section (sthiti-khaṇḍa) and the other section of the part (anu-bhāga khaṇḍa) are taken.
**134.** After the thousands of sections of the part (anu-bhāga khaṇḍa) are exhausted, the other section of the part, the same state-section, the same binding, and the time of the internalization are all together destroyed.
**Commentary:**
After the destruction of the country, the mind performs the act of internalization in the thousands of states of the binding. This internalization is for the twelve passions and the nine non-passionate karmas. There is no internalization for any other karma.
The pacifier, which is ready to act, performs the internalization by establishing the first state of both the karma that causes burning and the karma that causes knowledge for the duration of a moment. From the first state, the states multiplied by the number are taken as the series of qualities for the purpose of internalization. It internalizes the remaining eleven passions and eight non-passionate karmas, excluding the series of their arising.
The internalization above is of the same state, and the internalization below is of the different state.
When the internalization is performed, the other binding is established, and the other state-section and the other section of the part are taken. After the thousands of sections of the part are exhausted, the other section of the part, the same state-section, the same binding, and the time of the internalization are all together destroyed.
**Special Meaning:**
The state above the internalization of all the passions and non-passionate karmas, whether they are arising or not arising, is the same. This is because the first impregnation of the second state is seen to be present everywhere in the same form. Therefore, it is said, "The internalization above is of the same state."
But the state below the internalization is different. This is because, even though all the non-arising karmas are similar, the first state of the internalization is seen to be present only for the duration of a moment beyond the first state of a single burning passion and a single knowledge karma that are arising. Therefore, because of the difference in the first state, it is said, "The internalization below is of the different state."
**Commentary:**
When the internalization is performed, that is, when the act of internalization begins, at that very time, the other binding is established, and the other state-section and the other section of the part are taken. In this way, after the thousands of sections of the part are exhausted, the other section of the part, the same state-section, the same binding, and the time of the internalization are all together destroyed.
