## Chapter 85: Description of Kshaya, Vasana, and Time
**609**
20. One who experiences anger for a moment is said to experience anger like water. 21. One who experiences anger from a moment to half a month is said to experience anger like sand. 22. One who experiences anger from half a month to six months is said to experience anger like earth.
**Special Meaning:**
The four locations of anger (Krodha Kshaya) mentioned above, namely Nag (sin), Prithvi (earth), etc., should be understood in relation to time. Just as the line of Nag (sin) remains as it is even after a long period of time, the line of earth remains for a shorter period of time. Similarly, the impressions or Vasana-like locations of anger Kshaya are found for a short or long period of time depending on the intensity of the emotion. Therefore, they are said to be in relation to time.
The locations of the three Kshayas, namely Mana (pride), etc., which are described as Lata (vine), Daru (wood), etc., should be understood in relation to emotion. That is, the location with a gentle or soft emotion is called Lata-like. The location with a harder emotion is called Daru (wood)-like, and the location with even harder emotions is called Asthi (bone) or Shaila (rock)-like.
The four examples of Maya (delusion) are also described in relation to the simplicity or complexity of the outcome, and the lack or excess of crookedness. The four examples of Lobha (greed) are also described in relation to the excess or lack of miserliness arising from thirst.
In this way, the Churnikar has described all the locations of these eight Kshayas in relation to emotion.
Now, the Churnikar describes the four locations of anger Kshaya mentioned above in relation to time.
**Churnisoo:** One who experiences anger for a moment and experiences the pain of anger is said to experience anger like water. ||20||
**Special Meaning:** The line of water cannot remain for more than a moment. Just as the existence of the line of water is not possible after a moment, similarly, anger like water cannot remain for more than a moment. This anger, which is like water, is not fatal to restraint, but it certainly produces impurities, defects, or excesses in restraint.
**Churnisoo:** One who experiences anger from a moment to half a month is said to experience anger like sand. ||21||
**Special Meaning:** Just as the line formed in sand cannot remain for more than a fortnight, similarly, the Kshaya-born Kalup outcome that remains in the soul from a moment to half a month, in the form of a thorn or a desire for revenge, is called sand-like. This sand-like Kshaya outcome is fatal to restraint, meaning that in the rise of this type of Kshaya, the being cannot maintain restraint, but can also accept and maintain restraint and non-restraint.
**Churnisoo:** One who experiences anger from half a month to six months is said to experience anger like earth. ||22||
