## Chapter 62: Elucidation of the Time and Place of Entry
**Verse 174:** How long is the time taken by a being to enter 22 or 25 **Prakritis**?
**Verse 175-176:** The minimum time is one **Samaya** and the maximum time is one **Antarmukha** (a fraction of a **Samaya**).
**Explanation:**
**For a being entering 22 **Prakritis**:
* A **Upaśama Samyagdṛṣṭi** (a being with subdued passions and right faith) who has renounced all **Kṣayās** (passions) and attained the **Sāsādana** (the state of being free from the influence of **Kṣayās**) enters 22 **Prakritis** in the first **Samaya** after completing their lifespan. Subsequently, they may enter 25, 28, or 24 **Prakritis** in the following **Samayas**. Thus, the minimum time for entering 22 **Prakritis** is one **Samaya**.
**For a being entering 25 **Prakritis**:
* A **Upaśama Samyagdṛṣṭi** who has renounced all **Kṣayās** enters 25 **Prakritis** in the second **Samaya** of their **Upaśama Samyaktva** (the state of subdued passions and right faith). This happens when they attain the **Sāsādana** (the state of being free from the influence of **Kṣayās**) in the first **Samaya** and then, in the second **Samaya**, they enter the **Udayāvalī** (the cycle of **Kṣayās**) of the remaining three **Anantānubandhī** (infinitely connected) **Prakritis** that are outside the **Udayāvalī**. In the same second **Samaya**, they may attain **Mithyātva** (false belief) and enter 26 **Prakritis**. Thus, the minimum time for entering 25 **Prakritis** is one **Samaya**.
**Further Explanation:**
* A being entering 22 **Prakritis** may also enter 25, 28, or 24 **Prakritis** in the following **Samayas**.
* A being entering 25 **Prakritis** may enter 26 **Prakritis** in the same **Samaya**.
**Note:** The terms **Samaya**, **Antarmukha**, **Prakriti**, **Kṣayā**, **Upaśama Samyagdṛṣṭi**, **Sāsādana**, **Anantānubandhī**, **Udayāvalī**, and **Mithyātva** are all Jain terms.
