Query - What is the interval duration of the twenty-five Prakrtic transition states? || 215 ||
Answer - The minimum interval duration of the twenty-five Prakrtic transition states is one antarmuhurta, and the maximum interval duration is two sattaireya (sixty-six) sagaropamas. || 216-217 ||
Explanation - The clarification of the minimum and maximum interval durations of the twenty-five Prakrtic transition states is as follows - A certain Samyagmithyadrsti (partially right and partially wrong belief) jiva was existing while undergoing the transition of twenty-five Prakrtis. Due to the influence of modifications, he attained Samyaktva (right belief) or Mithyatva (wrong belief). Thereafter, remaining there for a minimum duration of one antarmuhurta and undergoing the transition of twenty-seven, he attained the interval and again attained Samyagmithyatva, becoming a transitioner of twenty-five. Thus, the minimum interval duration of the twenty-five Prakrtic transition state is established as one antarmuhurta. The description of its maximum interval duration is as follows - A certain Mithyadrsti (wrong believer) jiva attained Upasama-samyaktva (suppressed right belief) and, after attaining the interval with any unspecified transition state, went back to Mithyatva. Then, becoming oriented towards Upasama-samyaktva, he performed the utmost agitation of Samyaktva Prakrti and Samyagmithyatva, and at the extreme moment of the first state of Mithyatva, he underwent the extreme transition of Samyagmithyatva. Thereafter, in due course, he attained Samyaktva and wandered for sixty-six sagaropamas. At the end of that, he attained Mithyatva and, for more than three paryapta (a unit of time) of asankhyata (innumerable) parts of a palya (a unit of time), underwent the agitation of Samyagmithyatva and Samyaktva Prakrtis. Then, as far as possible, he attained Samyaktva and, remaining with Samyaktva for another sixty-six sagaropamas, at the end, again went to Mithyatva. He then underwent the prolonged agitation of Samyagmithyatva and Samyaktva Prakrtis and became a transitioner of twenty-five. Thus, the maximum interval duration of the twenty-five Prakrtic transition state should be known as more than one hundred thirty-two sagaropamas.
