203. The duration of the twenty-one prakruti (nature) samkramana (transformation) is as follows:
1. The duration of the minimum (jaghanya) time of the twenty-one prakruti samkramana is one samaya (instant). A being with twenty-four prakrutis, after the subsidence of the three types of mana (pride) kashayas (passions), attains the state of an upashamaka (one in whom the kashayas have subsided) in the first samaya and dies in the next samaya, taking birth in the celestial realm.
2. The maximum (utkrishta) duration of the twenty-one prakruti samkramana is measured from the time the two middle mohaniya (deluding) kashayas (of mithyatva and samyag-mithyatva) subside until they arise again, which is an antarmuhurta (less than 48 minutes).
