## Kasaya Pahud Sutta [5]
**[5. Transition-Arthaadhikār Kohaadi Uvajoge Chadu-Kasāyasu Chāṇupubbīe.
Sola, Unnīs, Teīs, Teīs. ||46||]**
And eleven-natured transitions are found in both the male and female paths. There are thirteen transitions in the male path. Eleven of them are similar to the female path. The difference is that there are two more transitions in the male path, the eighteen-natured and the ten-natured transitions. This is because, with the rise of the male path's Upashāmaka and Kshapaka, who have the power of twenty-one natures, the male path ascends the ladder and the female path is pacified and destroyed. This results in the aforementioned two transitions.
**Now, we will describe the transitions in the Kasaya path.**
Due to the four Kasayas (passions), there are sixteen, nineteen, twenty-three, and twenty-three transitions in the respective beings, in a sequential manner. ||46||
**Explanation:**
A being with the rising of the Krodha (anger) Kasaya has sixteen transitions. Their description is as follows:
The six transitions from twenty-seven to twenty-one in a Krodha-Kasaya-affected being are found in the previous Gunasthanas (stages of spiritual development) of Mithyāsthi, etc., as much as possible. The being with the power of twenty-four natures, who ascends the ladder with the rising of the Krodha Kasaya, has the twenty-three, twenty-two, and twenty-one-natured transitions, which are repeated. Again, the twenty, fourteen, and thirteen-natured transitions are found, which are not repeated. Also, there are four transitions, nineteen, eighteen, twelve, and eleven-natured, in relation to the Upashāmaka with the power of twenty-one natures. In relation to the Āpaka, who has ascended the ladder with the Krodha Kasaya, there are ten, four, and three-natured transitions. Thus, in total, a Krodha-Kasaya-affected being has sixteen transitions: 27, 26, 25, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19, 18, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 4, and 3.
A Māna (pride)-Kasaya-affected being has nineteen transitions. In addition to these sixteen transitions, there is a nine-natured transition in relation to the Upashāmaka with the power of twenty-one natures, due to the occurrence of both types of Krodha (anger). There is an eight-natured transition in relation to the occurrence of Sanjvalana-Krodha (intense anger). And there is a two-natured transition in relation to the destruction of Sanjvalana-Krodha in the Āpaka. Thus, in total, a Māna-Kasaya-affected being has nineteen transitions: 27, 26, 25, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19, 18, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 4, and 2.
Beings with the Māyā (deceit) and Lobha (greed) Kasayas have all twenty-three transitions.
An Akasaya (passionless) being has only two transitions, because the Upanamaka being with the power of twenty-four natures has two transitions in the eleventh Gunasthāna.
**Now, we will describe the transitions in the Jnāna (knowledge) path.**
