## Chapter 22: Explanation of the Terms Kṣīṇa (Diminished) and Akṣīṇa (Undiminished)
**Verse 24:** When the karma-sthiti (state of karma) of a particular padeśa (region) has passed through a period of two times more than the āvali (cycle) of the enemy, that padeśa is not in that state.
**Verse 25:** Similarly, as we proceed further, one time more at a time, the padeśa whose karma-sthiti has passed through a period less than the current state, is possible in that state, but it is kṣīṇa-sthiti (diminished state) due to its upward progression.
**Verse 26:** Similarly, starting from the initial state and going up to the jghana (lowest) āvāha (period), the padeśa whose karma-sthiti has passed through a period less than the current state, is possible in that state. This is also kṣīṇa-sthiti due to its upward progression.
**Verse 27:** Therefore, the state beyond this is akṣīṇa-sthiti (undiminished state).
**Verse 28:** The āvāha (period) less than the āvali (cycle) of the enemy, which is one time less, has its alternatives exhausted.
**Verse 29:** The alternatives of the state which is one time more than the āvali (cycle) of the enemy, are to be explained.
**Verse 30:** What is that state?
**Verse 31:** The state which is two times less than the āvali (cycle) of the enemy, is that state.
**Verse 32:** How many alternatives are there for this desired state?
**Verse 33:** There are one more alternative than the alternatives of the lower state, which is the next state.
