Gatha 22]
Exposition of the Proximity of the Modes of Existence
And sometimes it is also without division. The jiva that has the branch-like division of the nature of right faith, has a smaller division according to the rule of false belief, sixteen passions, and nine quasi-passions. And it has a branch-like division according to the rule of mixed true and false belief. Similarly, one should understand the proximity of the fixed and the inexpressible division of the nature of right faith. But the jiva that has the fixed division of the nature of right faith, also has the fixed division according to the rule of mixed true and false belief. The jiva that has the inexpressible division of the nature of right faith, sometimes has the branch-like division of mixed true and false belief, sometimes has the inexpressible division. The one that has the smaller division of the nature of right faith, sometimes has the branch-like division, sometimes the smaller division, and sometimes the fixed division of the passions of false belief, sixteen passions, and nine quasi-passions. It sometimes also has the inexpressible division of the quaternary of anantānubandhi. But it has the smaller division according to the rule of mixed true and false belief. But the one that has the inexpressible division of mixed true and false belief, necessarily has the inexpressible division of the nature of right faith.
The jiva that has the branch-like division of anantānubandhi anger, sometimes has the branch-like division, sometimes the smaller division, and sometimes the fixed division of false belief, the remaining fifteen passions, and nine quasi-passions. Its nature of right faith and mixed true and false belief sometimes exist and sometimes do not exist. If they exist, it necessarily has the smaller division of them. Similarly, it should be said regarding the fixed division. The one that has the inexpressible division of anantānubandhi anger, necessarily has the smaller division of false belief, twelve passions like apratikhyānāvaraṇa, and nine quasi-passions. It has the inexpressible division according to the rule of the three passions like anantānubandhi pride. It has the smaller division according to the rule of the nature of right faith and mixed true and false belief. The one that has the smaller division of anantānubandhi anger, sometimes has the branch-like division, the smaller division, and the fixed division of false belief, the remaining fifteen passions, and nine quasi-passions. It sometimes has the division and sometimes does not have the division of the nature of right faith and mixed true and false belief. If it has the division, it sometimes has the branch-like, sometimes the smaller, sometimes the fixed, and sometimes the inexpressible division. Similarly, regarding the anantānubandhi...
