Kasaya Pahuda Sutta
[There is no difference in the three states of existence of the substances. 297. However, the minimum interval of the infinite-deluded ones is one samaya. 298. The maximum interval is a little more than twenty-four hours. 299. Renunciation. 300. The one who is influenced by the serpent-like karma of wrong belief, he may be less influenced by the karma of right belief or may be free from karma. 301. Similarly, for the one with mixed right and wrong belief. 302. The rest should be understood*. The existence of substances with less, more, and fixed states of existence is possible for all time. The minimum interval of the indescribable state of the four passions is one samaya, and the maximum interval is a little more than twenty-four hours. Because the interval of the beings attaining right belief is similar to the interval of the beings attaining wrong belief.
Churni Sutra - They describe the proximity of the divisions like serpent-like, etc. The one who has the serpent-like division of the karma of wrong belief, he may have a less division of the nature of right belief, and he may be free from karma. The reason is that if the nature of right belief exists, then the one with the serpent-like division of wrong belief has a less division of the nature of right belief by rule; otherwise, it does not occur. Similarly, one should know the proximity of the mixed right and wrong belief. That is, if the one with the serpent-like division of wrong belief has the existence of mixed right and wrong belief, then by rule, he will have a less division, otherwise not. Similarly, one should know the proximity of the rest of the karmas.
Special meaning - In the Churni Sutra, the proximity of the rest of the karmas that one should know is as follows - the one who has the serpent-like division of wrong belief, he may have the serpent-like division of the sixteen passions and the nine non-passions, may have a less division, and may have a fixed division. Similarly, one should know the proximity of the fixed division of wrong belief. The one who has the less division of wrong belief, his nature of right belief may exist sometimes and may not exist sometimes. If it exists, then he may have a less division, serpent-like division, fixed division, and indescribable division. Similarly, one should know the proximity of the mixed right and wrong belief. It may have the serpent-like division of the twelve deluding karmas and the nine non-passions, may have a less division, and may have a fixed division. Similarly, one should know the proximity of the four infinite-deluded ones. The only specialty is that it may have the indescribable division.
In the copper-plate version, this Churni Sutra is not printed, but its commentary has been made into a sutra, which is as follows - 'The proximity of the rest of the karmas should be known' (see page 123, line 6).
