Gāthā 22] Exposition of the Modes of Existence (Sthiti) and their Disruption (Bhanga)
107 Modes of Existence. 95. Some may be with Vibhakti (differentiation) and some may be without Vibhakti (undifferentiated). 96. In the case of the Anukkaṣṭa (inferior) second stage, all the jīvas may be with Vibhakti. 97. Some may be with Vibhakti and some may be without Vibhakti. 98. Some may be with Vibhakti and some may be without Vibhakti. 99. Similarly, for the rest of the Prakṛtis (dispositions) also. 100. The Bhanga (disruption) in the Jhaṇṇa (inferior) stage is established. 101. That itself is the Aṭṭhapada (eight-fold). 102. By this Aṭṭhapada, all the jīvas may be of the inferior second stage of Mithyātva (false belief) without Vibhakti. 103. Some jīva may not have the utkarṣa (superior) Sthitivibhakti (differentiation of existence) of Mithyātva, while many jīvas may have the utkarṣa Vibhakti. This is because, even without the utkarṣa Vibhakti of the infinite jīvas, the possibility of the utkarṣa Sthitivibhakti in the countable or innumerable jīvas is found. In this way, these three appropriate Bhangas (disruptions) related to the utkarṣa Sthitivibhakti-avibhakti (differentiation-non-differentiation of existence) occur.
Cūrṇisūtra - Occasionally, all the jīvas may be of the anukkaṣṭa (inferior) stage of Mithyātva (false belief) with Vibhakti, because at some time, all the jīvas residing in the three worlds are found to be in the anukkaṣṭa stage without the utkarṣa Sthitivibhakti. Occasionally, many jīvas may be of the anukkaṣṭa stage of Mithyātva with Vibhakti, and one jīva may be without Vibhakti. The reason for this is that at some time, along with the jīva who does not have the anukkaṣṭa Sthitivibhakti, the rest of the jīvas are found to be with the anukkaṣṭa Sthitivibhakti. Occasionally, many jīvas may be of the anukkaṣṭa stage of Mithyātva with Vibhakti, and many may be without Vibhakti. The reason for this is that at some time, along with the infinite jīvas having the anukkaṣṭa Sthitivibhakti, the countable or innumerable jīvas having the utkarṣa Sthitivibhakti are also found.
Cūrṇisūtra - Similarly, the Bhangavicaya (exposition of the disruptions) of the other Moha (delusion) Prakṛtis like Samyagmithyātva (mixed right and wrong belief) etc. should be done in relation to the various jīvas, just as explained for the Mithyātva Prakṛti.
Cūrṇisūtra - Now, the exposition of the Bhangavicaya related to the Jhaṇṇa (inferior) Sthitivibhakti of the Mithyātva etc. Prakṛtis is being done in relation to the various jīvas. Here also, the same Arthapada (terminological phrase) is used as mentioned earlier in the case of the utkarṣa Sthitivibhakti. The only difference is that while stating the Bhangas, instead of utkarṣa and anukkaṣṭa, one should say Jhaṇṇa and Ajhaṇṇa Sthitivibhakti respectively. According to this Arthapada, not all the jīvas may be with the Vibhakti of the Jhaṇṇa stage of Mithyātva Prakṛti, because occasionally, all the jīvas are found to be in the Ajhaṇṇa stage of Mithyātva. Occasionally, many jīvas may not have the Vibhakti of the Jhaṇṇa stage of Mithyātva, and one jīva may have the Vibhakti. This is because, at some time, along with the jīvas having the Ajhaṇṇa stage of Mithyātva, one jīva having the Jhaṇṇa stage is also found. Occasionally, many jīvas may not have the Vibhakti of the Jhaṇṇa stage of Mithyātva, and many may have the Vibhakti, because at some time, along with the infinite jīvas having the Ajhaṇṇa Sthitivibhakti, the countable or innumerable jīvas having the Jhaṇṇa Sthitivibhakti are also found.
