Kasaya Pahuda Sutta
[The consideration of the three states of existence is made here. For example, perhaps all living beings are devoid of the highest state of existence of the deluding karmic state. Perhaps many living beings are devoid of the highest state of existence of the deluding karmic state, and one living being has the highest state of existence of the deluding karmic state. Perhaps many living beings are devoid of the highest state of existence of the deluding karmic state, and many living beings have the highest state of existence of the deluding karmic state. In this way, there are three divisions with respect to the highest state of existence. With respect to the lowest state of existence, perhaps all living beings have the lowest state of existence. Perhaps many living beings have the lowest state of existence, and one living being is devoid of the lowest state of existence. Perhaps many living beings have the lowest state of existence, and many living beings are devoid of the lowest state of existence, these are the three divisions. In the same way, with respect to the living beings of various kinds, there are three divisions each of the lowest and the non-lowest states of existence. In this way, the consideration of the divisions of other karmas has been made in this Anuyogadvara along with the bondage of each karma.]
Bhagabhaga-prarūpaṇā - The living beings who bind the highest state of existence of the karmas, how many parts of the entire mass of living beings are they? They are of the infinite part. The living beings who bind the lowest state of existence, how many parts are they? They are of the infinite many parts of all living beings. Similarly, the living beings who bind the lowest state of existence are of the infinite part, and the living beings who bind the non-lowest state of existence are of the infinite many parts, in this way the consideration of the parts and non-parts of all the root-karmas and their subsequent-natures has been made in this Anuyogadvara. In the present context, the living beings who differentiate the highest and lowest states of the deluding karma, they are the ones who have attained the highest state.
This eightfold statement has a twofold explanation - by way of the flow (ogha) and by way of the specific instruction (ādeśa). Therein, by way of the flow, the living beings who have the highest state of the eight karmas may all be either unattained or attained and unattained, or unattained and attained. Similarly for the non-highest, except that the order should be reversed. The lowest is explained. The same eightfold statement should be made. Its twofold explanation - by way of the flow and by way of the specific instruction. Therein, by way of the flow, the living beings who have the lowest state of the seven karmas may all be unattained, or unattained and attained, or unattained and attained.
When explained by the various living beings in accordance with the consideration of the divisions, in that, by the various living beings in the consideration of the highest divisions, this statement is made - those who are devoid of the highest are not devoid of the non-highest, those who are not devoid of the non-highest are devoid of the highest. This eightfold statement has a twofold explanation - by way of the flow and by way of the specific instruction. Therein, by way of the flow, the living beings who have the highest state of the deluding karma may all be unattained, or unattained and attained, or unattained and attained. Thus, there are three divisions.
For the lowest state of existence, the eightfold statement is as follows - those who are attained of the lowest are unattained of the non-lowest, those who are attained of the non-lowest are unattained of the lowest. This eightfold statement has a twofold explanation - by way of the flow and by way of the specific instruction. Therein, by way of the flow, the living beings who have the lowest state of the deluding karma may all be unattained, or unattained and attained, or unattained and attained. Thus, there are three divisions. Similarly for the non-lowest. However, the attained should be explained further.
