{Animistic behef) है । इसके साथ ही नैनसिद्धान्तमें तत्वों वा द्रव्यों का वर्णन करते समय गुणोका प्रथक् विवेचन नहीं किया गया अर्थात गुणोंको स्वयं एक तत्त्व वा द्रव्य नहीं माना गया है। इससे प्रगट है कि जैनधर्म वैशेषिक दर्शनसे बहुत प्राचीन है, जैसे डॉ० जैकोबी प्रगट करते हैं।' इन दोनों बातोंके अतिरिक्त जैनियोंकी आदर्श पूजा और अणुवाद भी उसकी बहु प्राचीनताको प्रमाणित करते हैं । जैनी उन महान पुरुषोंकी पूजा करते है जो सर्वोत्कृष्ट, सर्वज्ञ और सर्वहितैषी थे । इस प्रकारकी पूजा प्राचीन - मनुष्योंमें ही प्रचलित थी । सचमुच " जो धर्म अत्यन्त सरल होगा वह अपने से अधिक जटिल धर्मसे प्राचीन समझा जायगी ।" और यह मानी हुई बात है, जैसे कि मेजर जनरल फरलान्ग साहब कहते है कि "जैनधर्मसे सरल - पूना में, व्यवहारमें और सिद्धांतमें और कौनसा धर्म होसक्ता है ? " यही हाल अणुवाद सिद्धान्तका है । 'इन्साइक्लोपेडिया ऑफ रिलीजन एन्ड ईथेक्स' - भाग २ ट० १९९-२०० का निम्न अंश ही इस विषय में पर्याप्त है
